Wow, I didn't know Kemmerer was 1x state champ...even though those are certainly some strong opponents that beat him. I would not be surprised to see him win more NCAA titles than state titles.
Has that ever happened before?

Does either of these men have kids that wresstle?Thought we were just talking Iowa guys...also add in Burroughs. Smith only won two NCAA titles. Also, Ed and Lou Banach outperformed their state titles as well.

Yeah, Ed was a year behind Quentin Wright and lost his soph and junior year to Quentin. Both times in the semi-finals I believe.Ed Ruth qualifies for that list I believe. I don't think he ever won a state title. But he did win a Prep National Title for Blair his SR year, IIRC.
No doubt about that. I guess you could say he peaked in HS, sad, they should write him off and look to replace.Mark Hall is going to have more State titles than NCAA titles.

Its Kemerer with one m. Some of you surprise me by using two m's all the time. Don't be to upset with me.![]()
One might go even further and say that he peaked in his second year of 7th grade.![]()
Chuck Yagla. 2 national championships, 0 high school championships. Looks like spooner beat me to it!Wow, I didn't know Kemmerer was 1x state champ...even though those are certainly some strong opponents that beat him. I would not be surprised to see him win more NCAA titles than state titles.

The real question is whether anyone has more Olympic golds than state titles??
Tarvel Dlagnev never won a state title eitherI'm pretty sure that Bruce Baumgartner never won a state championship in NJ - I think he was runner-up once! Oh and he has 2 Olympic Gold Medals!!!
