Penn State already beat Minnesota. That puts us a half game ahead of Minnesota and tied with Penn State. Hopefully, Michigan can beat Nebraska. That would put us tied with Nebraska with a chance to move a half game head if we win at Northwestern.
Who do we need to win today in conference?

May still be a tad early to know who to be pulling for. However, it is nice to see us move up the board. We win tomorrow and Nebraska and Maryland both lose today, we would be even with them both, right?
Of course that would mean we would have to pull for Illinois, which is challenging. Looks like Illinois would be tied with us as well if they win.

Looks like we should pull for the home team in each of the games today.
I agree that pulling for Illinois is difficult at best....that said I think with the way the conference is this year we need every game that will affect our standings to fall our way.
Very very competitive conference and finishing in the upper half would be a good accomplishment for this young Iowa team.

I don't understand this whole rpi thing. Michigan wins, makes that win look better, but loss to Nebraska worse? Makes my head hurt.
Right now, I just want Iowa to finish as high as possible in conference. Heck, until we are mathematically eliminated from winning the whole thing, that is what I will pull for. I know, too optimistic. But, what the hell?
we just need to stay in the 2 loss group as long as possible & let the 1 loss group move back...after we loss the Omaha game (3-5)..we've won 8 of the next 10..thats a credit to the team & coaches for staying with it & no panic.

Michigan had 3 guys score 20+. And I'll be honest, I was sad to see Xavier Simpson pick Michigan but I'm glad we have JBo. Simpson hasn't done much of anything this year.
JBo is the better shooter by far & overall better player..granted Simpson doesn't play as much as Jordan. Would anyone trade X for JBo?
Not disagreeing with you in the least, but Simpson made a poor choice: He would be much better pushing the heck out of it with the Hawkeyes. He'd be a better fit with Fran.

I'd say it's WAY too early in the season to root for Illinois. I'm not sure if it can be done at anytime...
I know that our conference is very tough and physical. Those are givens.
Tomorrow, we face Northwestern on their floor. Their RPI is 43, ours is 101. Their strength of schedule is 92, ours is 82. Can't always rely on numbers though. They are 3-1 on the road in conference, we are 0-2.
Who's hot and who's not? We are 4-2 in our last 6 games. They are 4-2 as well.
If I'm Iowa, stay tough, value the ball, and rebound. The points will come from defense.
