For you old timers, how about Quinn Buckner of Indiana'a 32-0 undefeated national champs in 1975-76. 6'3"bulldog guard. Even wit Scott May and Kent Benson, Buckner was the heart of that team. What do you think?

In terms of role, he reminds me a lot of Jaden Ivey. Handles the ball, but not a true PG. Uses his athleticism to create havoc on both ends. Obviously not saying he's as good as Ivey.

Closest thing we've had in the past 20 or so years is probably Pierre Pierce, and of course let's hope that comparison ends right there.

James Moses, 89,90,91,92 could be a great match, or Rodell Davis, 90,91,92, but yes it's been a long time since Iowa's had a player like Tony....

Roy Marble to some degree with his jumping ability and more of a short jumper game, less of an outside threat.

Everyone that comes to mind when I watch TP is a bigger forward.

The body contact he create is pretty unique for a guy whos only 6'4, especially today when everyone is eurosteping away from contact as much as possible.

It reminds me of how guys played in the 90s jump stopping, bumping the defender and going up through contact.

Hes kind of like a shorter Dominique Wilkins but with a lot less vertical.

Smart seems to be at top of mind because of their body type & they're both combo guards, but their games aren't that similar.

Like someone else said, I think of bigger guys who create contact like Tyreke Evans & Corey 'Bad Porn' Maggette.

This is a tough one. Iowa hasn’t had a player like him in my memory - and I go back to the Ronnie Lester days. If I was going to create a player to resemble TP, I’d say it’s a morphing if James Winters and Val Barnes. If I had to pick one player, I’d go with Ray Thompson.

I really like TP, so I'll give him a big compliment. I couldn't think of anyone at Iowa (Kenny Arnold might be the closest, but not the same), but TP is kind of a poor man's Dennis Johnson. For those who don't know who I am talking about, Dennis Johnson had a great NBA career, winning NBA championships in Seattle (with JJ and Downtown Freddie Brown...) and then in Boston with Bird. DJ did whatever it took to win, and just made winning plays. He was a great defensive player, who could play either guard position,

I like that comparison, there was also a bulldog of a guard on the pistons. Not Isaiah, Dumars, or Aguire, more of a driver and not a prolific shooter.

I think we both agree he seems like a throw back.

Not sure who you're referring to. But I do think Tony has some Isaiah, Dumars, and Vinny Johnson in him.

El-Amin is a good comparison.

And I love the Dennis Johnson comp. Both smart, winning players with good frames.

Tony Allen as well

Vinny Johnson is who I couldn't remember! That is my comparison.

Ah no Andre was a bricklayer. Poor guy had no shot.
And definitely didn’t have his physique. El Amin was strong but short. Perk is 6-4? Honestly can’t remember a guy like him, especially who attacks the rim the way he does and plays D.

Not many highlights out there, but some of the quick twitch movements often reminded me of Randy Brown from the 90's bulls.

Actually scary how similar they look on the court. Also gotta wonder which one of Randy Brown's family members took the time to make a Top 5 highlight reel for him.
