For you old timers, how about Quinn Buckner of Indiana'a 32-0 undefeated national champs in 1975-76. 6'3"bulldog guard. Even wit Scott May and Kent Benson, Buckner was the heart of that team. What do you think?
I don't think Tony's the pure scorer that Smart was. That guy could fill it up....Marcus Smart.
D Wade's a good one, although like Smart I think a better pure shooter then TP. Something for Tony to strive for though..Marquette D-Wade.
I like that comparison, there was also a bulldog of a guard on the pistons. Not Isaiah, Dumars, or Aguire, more of a driver and not a prolific shooter.I really like TP, so I'll give him a big compliment. I couldn't think of anyone at Iowa (Kenny Arnold might be the closest, but not the same), but TP is kind of a poor man's Dennis Johnson. For those who don't know who I am talking about, Dennis Johnson had a great NBA career, winning NBA championships in Seattle (with JJ and Downtown Freddie Brown...) and then in Boston with Bird. DJ did whatever it took to win, and just made winning plays. He was a great defensive player, who could play either guard position,
Not sure who you're referring to. But I do think Tony has some Isaiah, Dumars, and Vinny Johnson in him.I like that comparison, there was also a bulldog of a guard on the pistons. Not Isaiah, Dumars, or Aguire, more of a driver and not a prolific shooter.
I think we both agree he seems like a throw back.
Vinny Johnson is who I couldn't remember! That is my comparison. Not sure who you're referring to. But I do think Tony has some Isaiah, Dumars, and Vinny Johnson in him.
El-Amin is a good comparison.
And I love the Dennis Johnson comp. Both smart, winning players with good frames.
Tony Allen as well
Right Hooper. Hill was absolute bruiser but did a nice job refining his game before he finished his career.Kent Hill if Kent could dribble.
Ah no Andre was a bricklayer. Poor guy had no shot.Andre Banks.
And definitely didn’t have his physique. El Amin was strong but short. Perk is 6-4? Honestly can’t remember a guy like him, especially who attacks the rim the way he does and plays D.Ah no Andre was a bricklayer. Poor guy had no shot.

Well....
Andre Banks .487 career FG
Anthony Perkins .446 career FG
That’s a good comp. Even how twitchy they are
Actually scary how similar they look on the court. Also gotta wonder which one of Randy Brown's family members took the time to make a Top 5 highlight reel for him.Not many highlights out there, but some of the quick twitch movements often reminded me of Randy Brown from the 90's bulls.
Haven't thought about that guy in years. What a pull!
