Who Earned Allocations?

I don't get it? So regardless of how anyone finishes in the Big Ten tournament, these are the guys from the Big Ten that make it to nationals,
other than guys that get chosen as wild cards qualifiers?

No, these are the guys that qualified slots for the B1G. If we qualified, say, 7 at a weight, the top 7 B1G finishers at that weight are in. If one of the 7 that qualified these slots finishes out of the top 7, he would need to get an at large based on his qualifications.

Hey PSU Mike....Thanks.
So...for example: if Iowa's Cory Clark injury defaults out after 1 match and gets 12th in the BigTen tourney, he's still in the NCAA tourney,
and if Iowa's Holloway (Hwt) gets 3rd in the BigTen tourney, he's also in the NCAA tourney, but then so is Jensen, even if he'd get 6th place at BigTen's?

Clark gets in based on his resume. Earth would have to change rotation for him not to get in.

Holloway would get in with a 3rd.

Jensen would likely get in, but it is not a slam dunk since other upsets in other conference tourneys could change who gets invited to the dance.

The upshot is "win and you're in". If that can't be done, have the best resume of those on the outside looking in come Sunday afternoon.

No. Detach this list from the actual qualifiers. These are the wrestlers who earned a qualifying position for the conference. The individual who fills that qualifying position is determined at the conference tournament.

The subject line of this thread confuses the issue. These wrestlers haven't received anything.

your most likely candidate, based on over dramatization of the injury, is Suriano. He earned an allocation, but if he starts his first match and MFF out of the tournament, then someone gets in that "shouldn't" based on seeds, but Suriano would then "steal" one of the at-large bids allotted to 125, thus making 125 that much more difficult for other conferences that have some "on the fence" wresters....someone like Fuentes from Drexel who didn't earn allocation for EIWA, but is sitting at #32 (per Wrestlestat), or Macri from Cornell who is #12, but didn't earn allocation.

The title of the thread should be "who earned the big ten allocations at each weight"

The list of names that SHP provided are the wrestlers that earned the gold standard (Winning %, RPI, Coaches Ranking), per NCAA, and earned the allocation of an automatic qualifying spot for that weight for their conference. The assumption is that those wrestlers that earned the allocation are the same ones that will auto-qualify, however, this doesn't always happen.

I think what is confusing some people is that they didn't actually earn the allotment for themselves (as in they already earned a qualifying spot regardless of how they personally finish at B10's); what it means is that they earned a slot for their particular weight class for the B10 entrants for the NCAA's.

NCAA Allocations and who earned them

125 (6 at-large):
ACC (3): Dance, Mueller, Fausz
Big 12 (4): Rodriguez, Piccininni, Templeman, Moody
Big Ten (7): Gilman, Suriano, Lambert, Lizak, Jimenez, Rodriguez, Oliver
EIWA (2): Cruz, Terao
EWL (3): Russell, Gromacki, Wert
MAC (5): Laney, Gonser, Fleetwood, McGhee, Akins
Pac-12 (1): Townsell
SoCon (2): Kraisser, Rodriguez

So in this example. The ACC earned 3 ncaa tournament spots based on Dance, Mueller, and Fausz's performances throughout the regular season. Whoever places top 3 at the ACC tournament get to go to the NCAA tournament based on the three earned spots. If any of Dance, Mueller, or Fausz would not place in the top 3 at the ACC tournament then they would have to hope for one of the 6 at large bids given out by the committee.

An easy one would be the Pac-12 above. Only the champion of the Pac-12 tournament gets an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Anyone else has to hope for an "at-large" selection.

I'm sure it's crystal clear now:)

So after tonight, Townsell earned the allocation, but Nickell won the title...so now Townsell is hoping for one of the 6 at-large berths remaining after all of the conference tournaments are done.
