Who s the next VP

Tough to tell. I originally thought Shapiro but lately I’m leaning toward Mark Kelly.

Three in person interviews today. Shapiro, Kelly, and Walz. I suspect those are the front runners. Will we find out the choice tomorrow or Tuesday is the question. If I’m Harris I hold off on naming the pick until Tuesday just before the rally.

J.D. Vance is the next vice president.

To me Shapiro is the no brainer pick but it seems he's running into some headwinds.
I too think Shapiro. However, I think the “headwinds” you mention are real…and they are Trumpf campaign based.
I love Walz…. He is unabashedly, unapologetically a proud Democrat who is proud of what he abs Dems have accomplished in Minnesota. He’d be good on a national ticket but one helluva loss for Minnesota.

Rival Democrats line up to tank Shapiro's veepstakes chances

Top Democrats have been telling us for several days that although she hasn't made it final, all signs point to Vice President Harris picking Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, 51, as her running-mate. But this weekend saw a flurry of efforts by rival Democratic camps to tank his chances.
Why it matters: Harris is conducting in-person interviews with finalists in Washington this weekend, and will appear Tuesday in Philadelphia with her choice.

Between the lines: The finalists are six white men. In addition to Shapiro, they include Govs. Tim Walz of Minnesota, Andy Beshear of Kentucky and J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, plus Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The latest: One report has Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) favoring Walz, with a source familiar with her thinking telling The Hill she "is always especially fond of former House colleagues." Walz served six House terms.

  • Advisers to Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.) have privately relayed to Harris' team his worries that Shapiro, a long-running rival in Pennsylvania, is excessively focused on personal ambitions, Politico reports.
  • Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont said he wants Walz because he "understands the needs of working families."
  • UAW President Shawn Fain, said he wants Beshear or Walz. Fain said the union doesn't favor Shapiro because of past support for school vouchers.
A 31-year-old clip surfaced from Shapiro's college newspaper, in which he wrote that Palestinians were "too battle-minded" and "peace between Arabs and Israelis is virtually impossible and will never come."

  • The opinion piece, "Peace not possible," ran in the Campus Times at the University of Rochester on Sept. 23, 1993.
  • Shapiro told reporters Friday that the column doesn't represent his views today: "I was 20."

Everyone is entitled to their opinions…the “anti-Shapiro” stuff I hear has a familiar Trump-ish odor to it… but we shall see. However, admit that it is possible…Trump is under “stress” right now….apparently the “deep bench” Dems talked about last week might just be “deep enough” this time around.
Harris should enjoy a nice couple of weeks in August… and we both know Trumpf demands a lot of attention…Trumpf must suck all the oxygen out if the room… and Harris is cutting into his oxygen supply.

The Trump campaign definitely doesn't want Shapiro named as the VP...I can agree with that.

Unfortunately there's a vocal minority in the D party that also agrees with that.

I think it's small but has outsized influence unfortunately.
And, they will come home in November. Pelosi and Fetterman aren’t jumping ship if Shapiro is the pick.
A lot of the Shapiro headwinds are anti-Semitic garbage coming from outside the party. I would never say there aren’t anti-Semitic groups in my party, but a lot of this whispering is coming from the traditional nuts outside of the party.

People will find faults with any of them.

I still think Shapiro is the easy choice with PA. But Walz I think is the more qualified person for the actual job.
I like Walz. I like Kelly and Shapiro, too. The number one qualification as always is to look at the person and feel like they could step in if needed. Stack any Dem candidate up against Vance and it’s a win. Especially with Trump being so old and in such poor health the VP pick matters.

I agree they'll come home...which is why it's pretty stupid to listen to the fringe on decisions like this.

We'll see...

I just saw the report on Vance’s emails about how much he hates the police and how racist Trump and his base are. And people that know him and his wife say they have no idea what they really believe as they completely change at will.

The battle to become Vice President Harris’s running mate is turning increasingly ugly as a decision nears and Democrats rally around their own preferred picks.

Progressives angered by Israel’s war in Gaza have increasingly targeted Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), who is Jewish, over his stances on Israel and handling of pro-Palestinian protests. Separately, Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) also flagged concerns about Shapiro to Harris’s team, according to Politico.
The left wing of the Democratic Party is increasingly pushing for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be the Harris pick. A number of House Democrats have been trying to boost Walz, a source familiar with the conversations said.

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), another top contender, has seen some union leaders publicly question whether he should get the nod, though the talk has not reached the nastiness of the debate over Shapiro.

The vice presidential battle, some strategists say, is starting to resemble a Democratic primary fight.

Meh. Every choice will have drawbacks and naysayers. You can’t keep every faction happy. Big decision for Harris though. I feel like picking Walz or Kelly will show some serious chops because Shapiro is the easy choice on paper but not necessarily the best candidate for the job itself or appealing nationwide.

Pick Shapiro and the convention in Chicago gets over run by pro Palestinian protesters.

Don’t pick him and it looks like she caved.

Looks like MN Governor Tim Walz has a good chance. Why? He would help win the Midwest swing states (especially the rural vote) of Wisconsin (10 Electoral votes) & Michigan (15 Electoral votes).

Other swing states/Electoral votes:
Pennsylvania/19
North Carolina/16
Georgia/16
Arizona/11
Nevada/6

JUST IN: Media buzz is rising that Kamala Harris is selecting Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her VP choice.

Who is Tim Walz? Let's take a quick look:

• Fueled BLM Riots in 2020

• Rioters looted and wrecked Minneapolis

• Change MN state flag to resemble Somalia's

• K*lled old people with Cov*d nursing home scandal

• MN a 'gr**mer friendly' LGBTQIA+ "sanctuary" state

• Pushes youth trans surgery, 'hormone therapy' agenda

• Soldiers accused Walz of embellishing and selectively omitting facts about his military career

• Fellow soldiers accused him of "quitting" on them

• Got DUI in 1995 going 96mph in a 55 speed zone

• Praises socialism

Kamala's "perfect" running mate?
