I think another good ball handler and shooter to compliment A Guyton
I would take a good hard look at Katie Vasecka, freshman at South Dakota State.
Love Hannah but her skills that are high level is near the basket. We need a knock-down shooting 2 and a legitimate 4.
I'm not sold that Hannah can become a legitimate 4.
I tend to agree given her/HS lack of an outside shot. The problem IMO is HS is causing a backup problem at the 5. If she does not play the 4 next year, then Heiden is the backup again and so is the 5 from Alaska (can't think of her name). I am not sure that is going to work very well, but again, JMO.We need a knock-down shooting 2 and a legitimate 4.

Yeah, I hope she stays in college another year and leaves that AH Geno in the dust.I've never seen someone more in need of a couch to crash on than Paige Bueckers.
She really needs to put in a lot of time on a mid range shot. She showed she can improve herself with her free throws.Love Hannah but her skills that are high level is near the basket.
That's the problem. We can't have 3 players good enough to get rotational minutes that can only play the 5. Hannah MUST move to the 4 this off-season. She MUST put in the work to develop her outside shot and handles.Love Hannah but her skills that are high level is near the basket.
WNBA players not available for the portal.6'2" 3 or 4 that can drive, dish nd make shots at the rim, can nail 3s, rebound out of her mind and get a steal and assist along the way. Other than that, I like what we have and what we have coming in next year. (same thing all other schools want)
Layla Hayes. Hannah has to know that playing the 5 just won't work next year. It's not going to work against Lauren Betts this season or next. Hannah has done a respectable job at the post but giving up 5 inches just isn't a fair matchup. I'm sure the recruiting talk with Heiden and Hayes didn't involve any competition with Hannah and I hope neither develop ambitions to hit the portal. Stuelke has shown improvement from the freethrow line, there's no reason to believe she can't hit a 15 foot jumper from the wing or elsewhere.I tend to agree given her/HS lack of an outside shot. I don't agree with this beyond the assertion that Hannah needs to work to expand her game. I don't think either Ava nor Layla will be ready to shoulder 25 minutes+ next year. Hannah will need to switch from the 4 and 5 next year, with the five being her primary position. That's the problem. We can't have 3 players good enough to get rotational minutes that can only play the 5. Hannah MUST move to the 4 this off-season. She MUST put in the work to develop her outside shot and handles.
So to get back to your question, I'd say that maybe a Molly Davis type that can come in and backup Guyton and help break the press. Just a one year player though.
Hannah will for sure play minutes at 5 again next year, especially if the team is playing faster.I don't agree with this beyond the assertion that Hannah needs to work to expand her game. It is what it is, pending portal.
I expect Deal to start every game assuming she stays healthy and injury free. Similar to when Caitlin came in.I think we will see Addie Deal starting a lot of games and Journey Houston we’ll get a few minutes. Then there’s the possibility of Kylie coming back.So I think we need to get a talented quick forward up front to help out.
These are Ava's stats in the four recent games she has gotten significant minutes. That works out to 13.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.25 block shots, 81% from the foul line and .5 fouls per 30 minutes on the court. That is very impressive for a freshmen getting limited minute.I don't agree with this beyond the assertion that Hannah needs to work to expand her game. This. Not just for Iowa, but she has dreams of the WNBA. She'll never last in the league at a post player at 6'2". Its all on her at this point.....That's the problem. We can't have 3 players good enough to get rotational minutes that can only play the 5. Hannah MUST move to the 4 this off-season. She MUST put in the work to develop her outside shot and handles.

Definitely talented but IMO would need time to adjust to B10 level. Ideally, portal transfers are more experienced ready-to-play vets. Nevertheless, I agree worth a look if she decides to transfer out of SDSU.I would take a good hard look at Katie Vasecka, freshman at South Dakota State.
Doesn't CC have another year because of Covid?WNBA players not available for the portal.
The lastest smoke is that she's struggling under the weight of expectations and all the comparisons to CC22. She would NEVER come to Iowa, and add to that.....Paige Bueckers to Iowa would be awesome. A guy can dream can’t he?😂🙏
Some of this came right from Geno himself after they lost to Tennessee....Theres been scrutiny that people want to consider her one of UConn's greatest players ever, and yet she will most likely leave as the ONLY Uconn AA to have NEVER won a title. That and people saying that she was CC22 before Clark was, and some think the weight of all this is getting to her...The lastest smoke is that she's struggling under the weight of expectations and all the comparisons to CC22. Have you watched some of the best freshmen in the conference this year? The top players coming in are more than capable. Addie Deal is on that level.I think they need another player like Lucy Olsen who can make plays on their own. We have a bunch of role players now who can not generate any offense when the shot clock runs down or take over a game. We had Caitlan Clark for four years and Lucy is the only player I see now who can give you one on one offense like she did against USC. Everyone else on the roster is a role player. Guyton comes closest to someone who can make a play. Unless Addie Deal can fill that role as a freshman which I doubt. I love Hannah but even if she developed a shot like AOG her quickness is lacking against quicker 4's in the conference. Just my opinions.
That's DealMy thoughts…
A ball handler/playmaker. Someone who can break a press without panicking, and drive and dish. Bonus if they can be a good defender.
A “three and D” player. This team needs another consistent outside threat, but they also need someone to handle the tough perimeter assignments on the defensive end with Kylie and Syd gone.
