With the NCAA allowing campus visits again starting in June, does anyone know if we have any playerswho have scheduled a visit yet? It is hard to land a high level kid without getting them on campus. Also, have any of the kids on our want list previously visited the campus? I know you can't get everyone, but I hope we can continue some momentum by getting a good combination of players that will fill our needs. With our current roster construction and our class structure I think we need a quality point guard ( Bowen or Trimble ), a shooter/scorer ( Nickel, Schutte, Dix) and a big ( Filopowski, Clingan, Shaver). Without players leaving, we should have 3 scholarships to give in 2022 and 2 to give in 2023.

Just read a day or 2 ago Bowen has been on campus already, and plans to make another trip. I think we have a very good shot at landing him. He’s very complimentary of Iowa and Fran, and I believe like a lot of other high level players, Fran gave him his first high major offer. Maybe that will actually pay off for once
Good to know. Care to say where you read that? I have been looking for news on him and have not seen anything for a while.
Iowa: “They’re the only school I’ve gotten to visit so far because of COVID. First off all, they keep it real with me. They tell me how it would be if I went there, how the situation would be. Coach [Fran] McCaffrey is always checking up on me. He’s not always talking about basketball, recruiting and that sort of stuff. That stands out to me a lot. He’s mainly telling me if I’m there, I’ll be one of their guys. I’ll have the ball a lot. I’ll be able to play my game, which is great to hear. I’ve already been up there and the atmosphere is great.”
“I know some visits that I was planning on taking,” he said. “I was going to go back up to Iowa. I was supposed to get over to Rutgers, Georgetown and I talked to Tennessee State about coming up to visit, too. There will probably be another one, but I haven’t decided yet.”

this was written back in August of 2020. There are also some video interviews on youtube of him. In the comments below the 1 video someone commented on how they would love if he picked iowa. The guy that did the interview responded saying he really thinks iowa has a very good chance with him.
The issue with this is that it is a year old. I’m pretty sure the staff will get Nickel, Bowen, Flipowski, and Dix on campus.
Hopefully he gets at least 2 players at each position he’s recruiting though with position less basketball he prefers there likely is overlap. Take the first ones that want to play for the Hawkeyes. Ok ok if that makes me Captain Obvious, so be it.
I would rather Fran offers more than 1 PG than to put all his eggs in one basket and not land Bowen. Most of the other schools recruiting these high level players have multiple offers out to kids with similar or better ratings. You take the first to commit or both if that is your plan.
