Who Would be the New ISU Coach?

I'm going with Pritzlaff and Bono. The problem with Bono is that it would be an admission that Pollard made the wrong decision when KJ and Bono had their squabble. Pollard seems like someone that is aware of perceptions and thus... I rule Bono out.

I don't think ISU is considered a good gig anymore. They won't get an elite existing coach. They just need to throw a lot of $$$ at a top level asst. and hope he bites.

I agree with someone else who thinks Hahn to Minny. Bono would also be excellent with access to a bigger budget, but Minny needs to look East Coast guy.

Carey Kolat?

Hahn to Minnesota and Eggum to ISU with Gable Steveson in tow. Brandon a great guy and he's getting crapped on up north.

No why would I?

Well, he's been a "hot" assistant for many years and jobs both better and worse than ISU have been open and he's still an assistant coach. Are all those ADs also "half brains"?

I guess I should qualify my earlier comment: That thought would occur to most people. For you, I completely understand why the thought never occurred to you.

I guess I am not exactly sure what you are saying either. Is it because you think there are some red flags about him that are turning these other AD's off or is it because he knows he is the Illini head coach in waiting so he has no desire to leave?

Word on the street is that his attitude has hurt him. Not saying that the potential HC in waiting thing isn't also a factor.

Looking at his next year's lineup (home state) and I am just spit balling here
125 - Piotrowski (IL)*
133 - Dylan Duncan (IL)
141 - Mousa Jodeh (IL)*
149 - Brock Ervin (KY)*
157 - Langenderfer (IL)*
165 - IMar (CA)*
174 - Xavier Montalvo (IL)
184 - Emery Parker (IL)*
197 - Andre Lee (IL)*
285 - Black (PA)*
.*Current starter

Perry's current lineup has 5 underclassmen that are homegrown, with potentially two more Illinois kids stepping in next year. I think most of those IL kids were top 100 recruits too.

So you think he didn't have money for guys like O'Connor, Gomez, Jessen, Warner, etc? Just surprised Illinois has not gotten many lately. And I have no idea why

Has he applied? Maybe he didn't feel ready? Illinois is a pretty good gig (great high school state, B1G, etc) and he is next in line for that job. What jobs have opened that have been better than that? OU, but he obviously didn't want to go there due to family connections.

I don't assume there is anything wrong with Perry because he's not a head coach. By that same logic we can say Terry wouldn't be a good hire for ISU. But we all know that if Terry were head coach he'd turn that program around in no time.

2 of 9 top 100 in state in the same class and that is a negative? Seems pretty good to me. For comparisons sake, Cael got 0 out of 13 from PA in the same class.

0 out of 7 for seniors, isn't good.

But like I said I don't know anything about Perry and his personality or reasons for not being a head coach.

I was always told by an ex friend that I had an attitude so I saw him walking down the street and I shot him. Just kidding. I actually pushed him in front of a car and he was in the hospital for a while. How about Ric Flair?

Yeah, the result have been really impressive, not!

Sarcasm, followed by "not". I get it. Did you just come up with that? You're right he has done nothing in the 45 minutes since he has been named hc.

It may be all of those things. But none of that adds up to the ISU AD being brain dead for not hiring him.

Schwab hasn't done enough at UNI to be a front line candidate. They have been killed by injuries but still--at some point you have to perform. Maybe he will have better luck with his most recent crop.

There has been a change is training and philosophy at UNI therefore you will not see as many injuries moving forward. Schwab has figured out that not everyone can train like he did and it is starting to show in their performance this year. If you watch the young guys on his team they are competing well and healthy. None of this years seniors are healthy and you could say the same about last years class. If there is an opening ISU should consider him because he has made many mistakes and learned from those mistakes.

As you might know I'm a UNI fan as well. I absolutely love Schwab but until that proves out he's not likely a candidate to move up to an ISU.

He's great with a few guys but is indifferent about the rest. Creates cliques in the room (you're either his guy or not).

A guy like Warner should've been his wrapped and sealed. Grew up in the club and in the room, great academics, and IMar talked very highly of him (which is one reason I'm high on him) at the clinic to me where he attempted to ruin my life with a tight waist. They wanted Warner bad but couldn't do it...not a good sign

So if Schwab gets UNI to be a, say, top ten team every year with 5 or 6 all americans, that would qualify him to leave a successful program and go to a piss poor program like ISU?

Don't be dumb. If he does that he would have his pick of open jobs and ISU is hardly "piss poor."

First off Mr. Disrespectful, I'm not dumb and as far as "I'M concerned, ISU is a piss poor program. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Not sure that 12-14 finishes is "piss poor." Underachieving? Absolutely. Is KJ a bad coach? Absolutely. But even as good as both you and I believe Schwab to be, he's regularly finishing behind ISU. Until he steps things up at UNI he's unlikely to move up to a better program.
