Why can't we make vote count machines that work like this?

Seems like the most logical way to count them quickly and efficiently. You hand count the first run 1000 or so and then run them through to make sure they match up accurately. Then ZIP! Done by breakfast.

These things are never wrong and they can read multiple types of bills. Shouldn't be hard to come up with something like this. No?

 
because some wingnut would then say: they coded the machine to work properly for the first 1000 ballots and then counted every 3rd R vote for a democrat.
There's no winning with conspiracies.
