Why Don't Republicans Want People to Vote?

BS. No voting rights are being eliminated or impeded. This just tries to change a SCOTUS decision that said the oversite set in place to prevent discrimination some 5 decades ago are no longer necessary.

And of course, immediately after the law is no longer “necessary,” several southern states made changes to make it harder for minority groups to vote. From NC getting busted specifically targeting black districts, to Florida purging voter registration lists with a database it knew was inaccurate. GOP BAU
what republicans did in NC is legal in CA. The dems used it to overturn 5 seats Republicans had won

I do not want an idiot to vote—/. This year that pretty much includes all insane democrats

Then you probably should dump the GOP.

The Colorado GOP head got caught voting multiple times (on his SO's absentee ballot) - and there are other examples of the same. In fact, most of the recent cases of voter fraud have been from the GOP side.

Astonishing, with their anti-fraud voting mantra...
That’s because the GOP is constantly projecting and confessing. If you want to know what crimes a conservative is committing, just listen to what they complain about.

They know they can't win a fair election, so they need to suppress voting. As David Frum puts it:

“Maybe you do not care much about the future of the Republican Party. You should. Conservatives will always be with us. If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy.”
― David Frum, Trumpocracy: The Corruption of the American Republic

Governors are elected by popular vote. That means, every person's vote counts equally.
You are partly right. Each vote counts the same. But each eligible voter does not have an equal chance of having his vote counted - thanks to restrictive laws and intimidating practices.

And, yes, if Dems do the same, they are evil, too.

At some level you can't blame people for playing by the rules that are in place. Gotta win to change them. But people should at least have the integrity to say those laws and practices are wrong, and to try to fix them when they get in office. Rs simply don't. They know they can't win without those laws and practices.

With Trump and the current GOP, we have both. Kids in cages and kickbacks for the donors.

Just imagine what things would be like if (when) Trump and the GOP manage to replace our federal law enforcement professionals and judges with political operatives.

The GOP is racing to that finish line with judges approved by the right wing Federalist Society. Then what do we do? It's already getting hard to find judges willing to do what's right.
