Why is everyone in love with Doyle?

Strength and conditioning can take players to a certain level rest is up to them and how gifted they were from the get go as well as coaching

It is the entire OL philosophy. Iowa raises big beef and instead of Wisconsin OL and blocking scheme, KF recruits smaller guards with short arms. Never enough tackle talent and small guards that get pushed around.

So overrated, makes more than entire staffs of other teams, and I don’t see any edge we have in that area.

This is a fair question to raise at this point. This team lacks physicality in a major way. They're pretty soft.

But guys... Doyle won that Best S&C Coach award... or, whatever!
That clearly means he's the best in the business!

1 million dollars to watch our o line gets dismantled every week and opposing teams kick our ass when it comes to physicality.. This isn't a knee jerk post, has been a terrible year in terms of strength and conditioning
I asked this question earlier and i was hammered on for doing so.

Wow, we're really grasping at straws to rationalize a loss.

Doyle is the reason why so many kids who were 2-star recruits in high school made it to the NFL.

Today's loss was due to average offensive talent, poor execution, and bad schemes. Strength and conditioning has nothing to do with that.

You really think rhabdo is caused by a hangover!?!? Wow, just wow.

No, I KNOW some of the players went out & got blitzed the night before. I am simply pointing out that putting the blame solely on Doyle is factually wrong.

In other words , Ferentz.

You can soup up a Toyota Camry with a bunch of nice new parts and V8 engine, but in the end it's still a Toyota.

Doyle can only do so much with the raw talent he's given, and the talent has been lacking.

I know what you are saying is true but it doesnt change the fact that he did alter his program bc of it. I mean, he had to, but it changed.

Which means he reflected & adapted to the
incident appropriately. I was simply pointing out that the argument that Doyle was the single cause of Rhabdo is fundamentally flawed.

Okay, then what's your theory?

My theory is we have a coach who is good at preparing players for the NFL (unfortunately rarely good at preparing them for their own college games, but that's another issue) and since most of our players are 2 and 3 stars, a few of them will emerge NFL ready.

That's why the idea that we turn more 2 star guys into pro players than OSU, Bama, etc is because they don't HAVE any 2 stars! We do!

Exactly. So while Iowa will never recruit like the blue bloods, the issue is recruiting. Not Doyle.

Well, ya.
I'm just sayin... not sure I wanna give Doyle any credit for anything.
Who's to say Kittle, Mabin, Beathard woudn't be in the NFL under a dif SC coach.

Actually we get pushed back and bounce off runners a lot. I think strength plays a part

Youth on offensive line, overall talent.

Doyle can only do so much. Look, I couldn't care less about Doyle. The problem is bigger than him, if there is a problem with him. That's all I'm saying.

I don't think anyone is saying he is the sole problem.

But if you don't think overall strength hasn't been an issue for a couple years now, you are watching close enough. I have no problem if people want to question coyle. Because it's not just a 'young offensive line. It's an ongoing problem across the team.

Fair enough. But at some point you have to ask if they are asking Doyle to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

Talent just isn't there for many positions.

But as you said they used to make 2 stars into NFL guys. They used to take that less talent and make them big and string and stopped doing that

They're still putting guys in the NFL. I don't know what to tell you, man. It's frustrating, I know.

KOK/GD/BF...what's the common denominater?

You're absolutely right but let's also remember that many fans on the boards thought Brian Ferentz was going to be the guy that was going to "change" his Dad.

I was just trying to show why I think it's fair to critize doyle (the nfl point was more to the idea I don't think you can say that these are the guys that turned 2 star into NFL guys, but then also argue the problem this year is a lack of talent)
