Seeing how the DNC is openly embracing the works of Lenin and Marx, shouldn't the colors get swapped for this upcoming election?
Why is the GOP red and the DNC blue on election maps?

I've wondered this too, so I googled it.
The gist of it is that U.S. media outlets from the 1970s through the 1990s used to alternate between the two colors based on which party was the incumbent (to avoid the appearance of favoritism) and what year it was. In practice, purely by coincidence, this meant that Democrats often got red and Republicans often got blue, but the connection was by no means definite. Then, in the 2000 election, in which Democrats had blue and Republicans had red, venerated NBC analyst Tim Russert (and his famous whiteboard) began talking about the idea of "red states" and "blue states," and as that election grew into a months-long controversy -- and as its electoral map, cleaving the U.S. neatly into "red" and "blue" geographic chunks, became iconic -- those colors wound up becoming associated with the parties in the public mind, and they've stuck.

I think the red reflects conservatism's permanently disgruntled state. You know, red ants, red assed, steamed, etc. It works.
I saw him again last night in Davenport. I would say he is most certainly fired up, but I really appreciate his passion. It beats the hell out of Hillary just saying what she knows people want to hear in a campaign speech, and doing so dryly.
On a side note I did wear a lot of red to the event.
I can only write prescriptions for street meds. Some PCP should get that party going though.
