Seems like it would somehow have to become a reality if we are evert serious about deep space exploration.

Do you think we see it in the next 100 years?

I think it will be more of a raise and train the generations thing, not a cryo-travel thing.

Maybe? I see drone/rocket creation getting more sophisticated before we learn how to keep people semi-alive for an undefined amount of time. With camera technology and robot technology also becoming more sophisticated, those things will move faster than humans.

Regardless, how about Saquon F'ing Barkley!! What a madman!! This year feels different (if they can stay healthy) Fly 🦅 Fly!

As a lifelong Hawkeye, I still see him running through the Iowa D. As an Eagle fan I hated him as a Giant, but absolutely love him as an Eagle. Same went for Nick Foles. Hated that SOB at Arizona, but run the Philly Special and win a SB and you'll be Big D Nick to me forever!

In the next hundred years if we’re still around we will likely be living underground in silos. I’m afraid our future is more dystopian than anything.

Only if the Democrats drag us into WW3 the way they dragged us into WW2 and WW1.

No, I don't think that will be a thing in 100 years.

There are a lot of obstacles to making that an effective and safe technology and in my experience obstacles with the human body are usually some of the most difficult to overcome.

Plus I just don't think there is a lot of funding or energy being put into research like that. We're busy working on curing cancer. That's where the funds and the effort is.

I think we will have FTL travel before cryosleep. At least cryosleep the way it is portrayed in movies where you also don't age.

Why not? We already have medicinally/medically induced coma's. How about we string it out for a few years or more and see what happens?
That's not really cryosleep though since the "cryo" implies freezing. Basically preventing aging.

I know, but I was thinking more along the lines of space travel. If we can induce coma's, I would think scientists would be able to use the same kinds of theories for extended "sleep".

Because it's one thing to freeze cells. I have plenty from people who are long dead. Much tougher to do tissues and organ systems, even for long term sleep. Circulation is a bitch.

"Project Hail Mary" uses this. It also demonstrates a big negative to using this method. If you haven't read the book I highly recommend it, it's written by the same author as "The Martian". It will also be a movie that's coming out next year I believe.
