I'm curious to hear if anyone thinks Jody Strittmatter might eventually decide to take a coaching position. Sounds like something just opened up in his neighborhood.

I suppose the allure of big-time college athletics might be appealing, but it seems like a no-brainer to me that he'd stay put. As chief says, he's doing very well with Young Guns, and he clearly loves running that club. He doesn't have any of the headaches of recruiting or pleasing a fan base. He just has to focus on developing the kids in his club, where the expectations aren't nearly what he'd encounter running a college program. He has coaches from top D1 programs around the country courting his kids constantly, which would have to be pretty cool.

I don't see any reasons to make the jump other than just the challenge of running a college program, which wouldn't be all that enticing to me, at least, considering how sweet his current gig is. Maybe if the club started to struggle a little, in which case the stresses of running the club might be an incentive to try something else. . . but I can't imagine Young Guns doing anything but growing and thriving in the years ahead.

It's obviously great to have a Hawkeye running the premiere club in PA, so I'm all for Jody staying put.;)

El Dub huffing some good weed when you posted this weren't you bro ;) Blame it on the herb.

I think Jody would make a great college coach...I would like to see him do it just for the challenge. But he would have to give up Young Guns completely and I just don't see him doing that. Parents will pay big money these days to see their kiddies turned into elite wrestlers. Jody has taken an already good sliver of the country and made it the Dagestan of the U.S. EDIT: I know P.A. guys are about to jump on here and start naming other great coaches in the area but one just has to look at the names associated with Young Guns and how they do in D-1 to see that J.S. is THE man.

Surely, Jody knows that if he took a D-1 coaching job he could always use HR as a resource for recruiting, possible lineups and red-shirt decisions as long as it did not conflict with the Hawkeyes.

All he has to do is "follow" KWood.

Wait........what???

He wants to spend his winter on an Island in the Gulf of Mexico instead of Western Alaska....I mean Western Pennsylvania.

I was wondering if Metcalf would go after the Pitt job. He is primed for a head spot somewhere.

I could be wrong but I think Metcalf accepted a position with USAW as the developmental coach and was moving out to Colorado Springs in May. I think he stays there for a bit before being a head coach somewhere.
