Where did Gary Close end up?I know it's Wisconsin, but I'll say it - good for him. Hope he learns a lot, is successful, and might come back to Iowa some day.
DEAN always a hawk!I know it's Wisconsin, but I'll say it - good for him. Hope he learns a lot, is successful, and might come back to Iowa some day.
I always wonder in cases like this, how does it feel to coach at a rival of your alma mater?
Because Iowa hadn't posted an assistant coach job opening.WHY THEM?? WHY NOT IOWA??
Adding Deano to the coaching staff is like adding another player to Iowa's roster: nice idea, currently full.WHY THEM?? WHY NOT IOWA??
I wonder if Jeff Horner is in their sights?Good for Dean Oliver, I concur.
I'm sure he's paid his dues, but I'm guessing the Mason City connection to Barry Alvarez probably doesn't hurt anything either.......................
Seriously. I don't know why anyone would not understand this but it's obvious some here don't. Deano wants to coach and this job came up and they wanted him. I'm sure he'd love to coach at Iowa but AFAIK, Iowa has no openings for assistants so Deano is pretty much out of luck here, at least for now. It's business and moving up in your career. It's the job your were hired to do so you do it
Seriously. I don't know why anyone would not understand this but it's obvious some here don't.
Go back and read this thread again. Clearly some do not. Specifically, those who think he should have waited until an Iowa asst coaching job came open.Who here doesn't understand that?
Love Dean, one of my favorite Hawks.
