I assume everybody knows that Obama is the 44th president.

But Joe Biden is not America's 44th vice president. What number vice president is Joe Biden?

Not trying to trick anyone, so I'll give you a fighting chance to figure it out if you don't already know. Here's your hint:

FDR was the 32nd president, first elected in 1932.

FDR's vice president, also elected in 1932 was John Nance Garner. He was America's 32nd vice president.

Wrack your brain and do the math.

I guess nobody else wants to play.

FDR had 3. Garner, Wallace and Truman.

Nixon had 2. Agnew and Ford.

Interesting that 2 of the 3 replacement VPs went on to be president.

It is interesting, but you have to consider that both of them became President by succession when the office became vacant. After taking over when FDR died, Truman needed an historic come-from-behind victory over Dewey in 1948. Two years after taking over when Nixon resigned, Ford lost to Carter.

It's interesting to me that it has been 28 years since a former VP was elected President. And barring a surprise bid by Gore or Biden, that streak is going to go at least 32 years.

Yeah, I was thinking of that, too. Bush 41. LBJ. Truman. Am I missing anyone from recent history? NIxon lost his initial bid but won later. And then was impeached. So he counts with an asterisk. ;)

Am I correct in thinking that Truman didn't have a VP for several years? If so, that must have been a little weird.
