It's possible I missed it but listening to WOJO's post game remarks on-line I noticed he took responsibility for the beat down but never once gave Iowa any credit. The closet he came was stating something about 'his team not being prepared for a high level game'.

WOJO take the silver spoon out of your mouth my friend. Slap the floor because this is not Duke any more. No more incredible talent getting incredible breaks, You are going to find out what real coaching is all about.

Wojo was completely outclassed by Fran. The Big Ten has a truckload of tremendous coaches and of course we play teams out of conference every year that have great coaches as well. Iowa did such a fantastic job all across the board in this game, but it seemed like Marquette just kept doing the same thing all game without ever making any adjustments. Even if Marquette does have some good talent this year, I don't see a ton of wins. They will be NIT at best

You are correct. He gave absolutely no credit to Iowa. I didn't lose sleep over it but at the time sort of wondered why he didn't give credit to Iowa for the way it played. This was not a case of Marquette not coming to play. This was a case of Marquette getting its a** handed to it by a much better team. I can appreciate he took the loss on his own shoulders but failing to give credit to the team that thrashed you from the opening tip was sort of a dbag move ... Just my two cents ...

Shouldn't talk to Cujo, I mean, Wojo, after a loss:

I was surprised how poorly he coached. When your team is getting whipped, you would think that we would try some changes and be more emotional on the bench. He obviously is having great success recruiting, but he should be a little embarrassed how poorly his stars played as a team. I have grown to hate Duke over the years, so I am glad to see rat face's disciples not having great success.

Amen. Marquette got worked by a much better, much more well coached, team.

I thought he was plenty emotional during the game. There was just nothing he or his team could do to stop the steamroller that was running over and around them. Had to be an eye opener for his players who looked pretty confident at the game's start. Listened to his postgame comments and I don't believe he mentioned Iowa by name once.

Being emotional does not correlate to being a good coach or coaching at all, if that is the case I have been coaching every Iowa football games for 30+ years......heck most successful coaches are pretty even keeled, not all but most

Henry ellenson has plenty of talent but easy on the dirk and Kevin love comparisons. Dirk will be a hall of famer and love could be also. Love was a consensus all American on a final four team the year he played in college. I don't see ellenson being an impact player next year if he goes pro.

Should we be worried about a lawsuit? I don't like to give away premium board stuff but Kakert mentioned there were around ten NBA scouts at the game last night. Gotta figure they were there for Ellenson as much as anyone. (By the way...folks should sign up for the premium info...consider this mention just an example of the great coverage.)

Anyway...here it comes....

"Your Honor, my client's future contract was repeatedly damaged by Iowa players getting in his way, taking the ball out of his hands, making him look clutsy...excuse me (lawyer turns to a complaining client) You did, you looked clutsy. Now shut up and let me do my job! (back to the judge) Your Honor, we estimate my client may have lost two or three million per year from a future NBA contract and it's Iowa's fault!!!!"

The funny thing is, on paper Wojo has much more talent than do the Hawkeyes. His team was ill prepared and it looked as if they had not even scouted Iowa. Either very poor preparation on his part or very poor communication from coach to player as well as poor execution. I would have liked to have heard him compliment Iowa just a little bit as opposed to taking the "it's all my fault" trek. He was embarrassed that's for sure. He will probably call up Mike K and ask him what should I do?

Big problems at Marquette. Wojo got pounded all night, then went and slept with 3 Nebraska football players for some relief.

Wojo has two former Drake assistants on his staff (Stan Johnson & Brett Nelson). After they were fired at Drake with Mark Phelps, Johnson was fired on Herb Sendek's staff at Arizona State last year and Nelson joined Wojo's staff two years ago after a 5-25 season at Ball State as an assistant.Third assistant is former Duke player Chris Carawell who has no experience until now. You would think Wojo could assemble a better staff with all his connections. Phelps was on Marquette's staff last year and is now at Arizona.

Compare that to Fran's staff: Sherman Dillard (former assistant at Maryland, Cal, Georgia Tech, HC @ Indiana State for three years.
Kirk Speraw (former assistant at Denver, Florida, HC @ Central Florida 17 years)
Andrew Francis (experience as video coordinator at Villanova, assistant w/ Fran at Siena)
Operations - Billy Taylor (former assistant at Notre Dame, HC at Lehigh and Ball State).

Fran is fortunate to have three former Div. I head coaches as assistants.

With the kind of talent he is attracting, Wojo might be better-off allowing the players to draw-up a few plays and then get out of their way during the games. Maybe they could bail him out.

It was ONE game. Period. Don't try and make it anything more than it really was.

He could not give Iowa much credit because he plays LSU next and he knows what is coming. His 4-star guards did not look for their big guys and shot 3 point bricks instead.
