Find out in two days in Lincoln. Hopefully Kastanek will have a great homecoming. Iowa won there last year but Kastanek wasn't a key player then. This year Iowa will need her to continually play well to succeed.

How good is Nebraska this year in women's basketball

Nebraska has a lot of new faces this year. They return Rachel Theriot, but the biggest addition is center Jessica Shepard, the #1 center recruit and #3 overall player in the nation in last year's recruiting class. She has already won three or four B1G Freshman of the Week honors and one overall conference player of the week award. She is averaging around 20 ppg IIRC. The Huskers are a little injury riddled right now, and for as good as they are offensively, Nebraska's weakness is defense. Could be a track meet on Thursday.

Nebraska is undefeated (9-0) in home games this year. Their two losses were to #1 UConn and to ranked California in OT. I think they should be favored to beat Iowa.

1. I don't think the Iowa women are a top 25 team this year, top 40 yes
2. Iowa will not be able to handle to Nebraska on the inside

Nebraska wins by 10 I think

With the turnover from last years team, there is inevitably quite a bit of adjustment to be made. I think it is evident that there are some 'growing pains'. Team chemistry takes time, but the talent is there.
Before the season started, I thought they could be 14-4 in B1G, but with the tough early schedule, I am hoping now for 12-6. Even that may be optimistic but I still believe they can be at least 9-9. If they can pull off an upset today, it would certainly bode well for the rest of the season. Regardless, if they stick together, they will get better and improve each game. Realistically, by tournament time, I believe they can get to the B1G final 4 and make the NCAA round of 32. At least that is what I am hoping for.

That actually surprises me as it seems like the inside/rebounding has been a struggle for Iowa vs Nebraska. I remember Iowa struggling mightily with Emily Cady.

I don't recall a Connie Yori team ever getting beaten on the boards as badly as Iowa is beating Nebraska in this game. I think Hawkeyes are +18 on the glass thru three.

Iowa's guards were quicker to the ball and got the rebounds. Also their freshman center Sheppard does not seem very mobile and is not gobbling up the rebounds.

A qualified win as Nebraska was missing one of their starters (probably their best rebounder) and another regular reserve. They didn't shoot many 'threes' in the game but made a few clutch shots down the stretch to close the gap. Nebraska had an early free throw advantage which Iowa reversed in the last few minutes when Nebraska was fouling to get the ball back. One final note, Iowa had too many turnovers.

Peschel needs to get her acts together. And Buttenham made several mistakes towards the end to make the game close. Although the three she made was big.
