Women’s Selection Sunday thread (Iowa Earns 1-Seed in Albany Region)

The good thing with Iowa right now is that CC's supporting cast is playing their best basketball right now...Martin/Affolter/Gabby/Hannah.
Any word on Molly playing? I like how the recent starting lineup has performed but it’s always nice to have another fresh pair of legs.

They're really making it hard to advance to the final four. While SC has a cakewalk to the final four. Oh well win and advance.
I mean they are the overall number one seed by a mile so they should have the weakest number two seed which is Notre Dame. Southern California will have to beat UConn (maybe OSU) which is much tougher than UCLA/ LSU. Texas will have to beat Stanford which is a much harder order than LSU/UCLA.

I would rather be in #2 Ohio State's shoes with #1 USC, #3 Uconn & #4 Virginia Tech (their star player is injured)

Iowa got screwed
Ohio State has the toughest road by far of any one or two seed to reach the final four. And it’s not even close! At least Notre Dame will play Oregon State in the sweet sixteen. Ohio State will have to play UConn and then Southern California.

Well…all teams we can beat, but lots of very intriguing teams in there. If I counted correctly, we have 9 of the top 26 Net teams in our bracket and that doesn’t count a very tricky Princeton @ 31st or Drake again …🤷‍♂️

Matchups:

8 West Virginia- been a dangerous and scrappy team in the B12 all season

9 Princeton- potential Creighton type trap game, so regardless we're not getting an easy 2nd Rd game.

Winner of Colorado/Kansas State- either a team we beat last year that returned most of their players and wants revenge, or a team that we've played twice this year and makes life really difficult for us because reasons.....bullsh**.

Winner of LSU/UCLA- Because we had to have the potential Angel Reese vs Caitlin Clark matchup because ratings. UCLA was always the plan for the 2 seed. It was just a matter of who else would fill out the bracket.

Also, Gonzaga being a 4 seed and getting to go to the 4th 1 seed in Texas is horsesh**.

IOWA CITY — The generational talent has delivered another generational milestone.

Buoyed by reigning Player of the Year guard Caitlin Clark and a stellar group of experienced teammates, the No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes (28-4, Big Ten Tournament champions) were awarded a 1-seed in the Albany 2 region on Selection Sunday, the program's second-ever 1-seed and its first since 1992.

Iowa's fellow 1-seeds are South Carolina, USC and Texas. South Carolina joins Iowa in the Albany regional, while USC and Texas will be in Portland brackets.

Iowa will face the winner of the First Four play-in game, 16-seed Holy Cross (20-12), of the Patriot League conference or 16-seed UT-Martin (16-16) of the Ohio Valley Conference. Iowa's first round game will be played on Friday or Saturday. Tip times have not yet been announced.
