World Championships Oslo Seedings

Click on blue link. Scroll down for seedings. Some real head scratchers here.
There are zero headscratchers because seeding is a clearly defined points system based on results. You win or place at tournaments, you earn points. You don't show up, you don't earn points.

At 57 Atli Suleyman drops from 4 to 7 with a first round Olympic loss, to ATRINAGHARCHI, who went from #8 to #9 and was a semi finalist who
wrestled for bronze.
I understand each rankings event has different individual points which can be earned based on placement.
The real head scratcher is Takahashi who goes from 6 to 20 with a win over former #1 Micic and Micic is not even top 20 anymore and he wrestled in every rankings event available.
The ranking series system needs
to be reviewed and adjusted.

It's a new season. The points reset. Due to a shortened 2021 slate, the Olympics were given a 20% bump in seeding points which is why it's heavily slanted towards Olympic medalists.

Additionally, most of the points that made up Olympic seeds reset. Micic only wrestled in 1 rankings series event (very small bracket, so limited points) for the 2021 season and did not win a match at the Olympics, so he doesn't have many points. Takahashi wrestled in zero 2021 rankings events, so he only gets the points for his 8th place showing at the Olympics.

Everybody knows the rules. It's on them to show up at the tournaments and perform if they want a seed.

I'd say the most head scratching about these is that they are seedings for worlds and some have multiple athletes from the same country.

Wrestlers earn points, not countries. If the wrestler who earned the points does not make that country's team then they will keep sliding wrestlers up.
I fully understand that, they should just call them rankings not seedings imo.

But they're not rankings, they're seeds. If a wrestler doesn't make the team, they lose the points. Nobody thinks that this is a list of the 20 best guys in the world. That's not it's purpose.
??
seeds are based off the current rankings points earned. This is how the wrestlers are currently ranked.
How do you lose points for an event which hasn’t taken place?
I can see a guy going down in the rankings not making the team, because they can’t earn points. The wrestlers competing at Worlds will have a chance to earn points move up in the rankings.

The points reset each season. If you don't wrestle at the world championships, you can't earn points there, and therefore will reset back to zero until you wrestle in a rankings event for the following season.

This is why they aren't rankings. When DT missed 2019 worlds, he reset to 0 points and because he only wrestled in 1 event leading up to the Olympics, he didn't even make the top 45 point earners. No "ranking" would have DT out of the top 5, let alone 45.
