World cup back to the IOWA

LOVED the last tournament. LOVE the news that it is back in Iowa. DISLIKE the venue, since Carver blew that capacity out for the finals. HATE this new format. I get that there was a huge drop off last time with India as the 8th seed, so MAYBE do this with 8 teams and the 8th team as the "All-World" team? But Mongolia was essentially a 7 seed by the criteria, and yet they nearly won the 5th place dual. They wouldn't have had that opportunity, in their national sport, under this format. Saw quite a few Mongolian fans in from Chicago and Denver, and Indian fans that came down from Cedar Rapids and from Iowa City. This takes away slightly from that national pride angle, and the variety of cultural representation that made the last one so fun. Plus 8 is the perfect number, with a 1st through 7th place match. Just my humble opinion.
If I remember correctly, Iran did not participate and India filled in, hence the drop off. Xtreme Arena will allow you to be right on top of the action. They also have much better concessions. When tickets go on sale you have to be ready.
What is wrong with the format? Fans are going to be able to see Men and Women compete, which is a good thing, for growing the sport.
Maybe that is why Taylor isn't competing either, or vice versa. If Taylor has addressed why he isn't competing I haven't seen it anywhere.
The Irianian team is loaded with some of the best in the world without Yazdani, we should have our best team going. I wonder if some of the Russians will be here under the federation?

Pathetic that only two of our top 10 US wrestlers are entered, and unfortunately no Russians entered. Mongolia has 2-3 entered at each weight for both mens and womens, very impressive !You can find full rosters here:

5 of 10, but I understand the frustration. Was also hoping more of the 1's were competing. Still going to be a ton of high level athletes there, though.
Not many opportunities for me to see this level of competition in person as it's right in my backyard, so I'm pumped.
I'm excited for this and it will be a good time and the wrestling will be great, but not having your A team in your home country is not the way to grow the sport and is disappointing to a degree..
These 3 have now been cleared and will be at the World Cup
two out ten, Snyder and JB are the only two of our top 10 US wrestlers that will be there. So I'm clear I consider Grey, Helen, Mensah-Stock and Hildebrandt as 4 of our top 10 along with No Dake,Taylor, GS and Gilman. I give Grey a pass she just had a baby, not sure why the rest are not going to be there.
Cesspoolians or Cesspooligans?
Maybe we need to get some cesspool t-shirts so we can recognize each other in a crowd.
