I don't know much about the Panthers. I know a lot about the Klan. I see where you're going. Two wrongs don't make a right, but the Klan was so large and ingrained into law enforcement that I personally would not compare. (The evil is perhaps the same and I can see the comparison.)
I think the interesting thing is how the south has evolved. And in that I mean very slowly. But certainly there has been progress. At the end of the day I can only control how I treat others and hope that my behavior impacts others.

However, she is making a loud statement of "I'm black, and my girls are all black, and we look like some rather unsavory black guys called the Black Panthers." Basically, she chose to emphasize that our skin colors are different. That isn't helping the culture to get to a point where we don't differentiate based on our ethnicity. I just hope people don't start considering black berets as being a racist symbol.
