We have seen this week how insane this guy and his handlers are in economic policy.

Trump has defaulted many times in his career and has actually prospered( see Atlantic City casino loan he defaulted on and created a huge tax loss that profited him).

Is he crazy enough to try to apply this tactic to make good on his campaign promise to get rid of our debt?

I know it sounds preposterous and would destroy the world economy but after this week I am not sure anyone can doubt the insanity of trump and Navarro and their willingness to destroy the world order.

I hate to say it but I am kind of rooting for the pain, especially upon Trump voters. MAGA is a toxic brand of politics that is going to do more and more damage to the country the longer it has power. Republicans loved the neo cons til they realized that all it led to was 2 never ending wars, a recession and a dem super majority in the senate that radically reformed our health care system for the better.

That needs to happen again. Otherwise every R candidate after this will likely bring MAGA style politics which will in the end lead to America's destruction as a world power and the rise of China.

I don't agree with the dems on a lot of shit, but R's history in my adult life has been screwing everything up badly. Bush screwed up the response to terrorism and screwed up the economy. Trump screwed up COVID response and now he wants to make Liz Truss look like an economic genius.

He was going on Larry King in the 90's about running as the Reform party candidate. At that point he was trying to come across as an apolitical Ross Perot or Jesse Venturi type who would get everybody to "work together" and "fix things" with his business savvy. The glory days of "the way to fix politics is to get non-politicians to run for office".

It needs to be remembered that this whole episode is like the Producers. Running for President in 2015 was a PR stunt that got completely out of hand. Getting a taste of power turned him into what he is now. And he's got tens of millions cheering him on, even now.
