Would you want to be as rich and famous as Elon Musk if it meant you had to travel everywhere with 20 bodyguards?

Gaddafy duck body guards

Yikes. He spends a couple million dollars a year on his security detail due to threats.

I think I'd rather be me...an anonymous nobody who drives around in a white Toyota Corolla. 😆

Not that I endorse death threats or violence but this problem is a problem of Musk's own creation by being a douchebag.

While I imagine a billionaire would still need some protection, if he just focused on his businesses and was less controversial it likely wouldn't be nearly as bad.

I think it would be awful. I’m guessing everybody with that kind of wealth has that level of security detail. But it probably also feeds into their narcissism.

I read that Warren Buffett only had one bodyguard for many years.

That seems better/easier.

I disagree. Could you have told me the United Healthcare’s CEO’s name before he was murdered? Elon might be a little more of a target because of his fame, but like I said previously everybody with that level of wealth has a target on their back.

Exactly. He's inserted himself into very controversial politics.

He should dedicate all his free time to philanthropy instead and he wouldn't need 20 bodyguards, IMHO.

That's what I'm saying. If you arn't controversial you don't get the death threats and level of concerns as Musk has gotten.

Although I would say the level of wealth that is probably ideal is in the hundreds of millions of dollars. You want to be rich but not so rich that everyone knows who you are.

Musk is just greedy and narcissitic who enjoys to hear himself talk and wants applause.

If I had his 400 billion I would be giving some away but more importantly trying to help the poor and unfortunate. Geez who was it that tried to help the poor, definitely not the likes of trump and these billionaires

I think 15-20 million is the sweet spot.

Fly under the radar but enough to do pretty much whatever you want. Sure, you won’t own a sports team or a megayacht or your own Hawaiian island, but you can live in comfort and with anonymity.
You can have hundreds of millions in relative anonymity. There are plenty of people who do.

But I’m sure you’d still have some person pissed off enough that they didn’t get some sort of donation from him and want him dead.
Greed is a major problem.

Why wouldn't every rich person like that just live like Hugh Heffner? I don't get it.

Of course, when I was 14 I said, "Why wouldn't every male adult just spend their entire time in nudie bars?" And I don't do that. I give Tuesdays to my family...and Thursdays to my other family.
