Before we jump into the rankings this week, I'd just like to point out that there were a few anomolies in the rankings the last 2 weeks. They have been researched and a bug in the rankings code was found. I incorrectly implemented the algorithm where "new" wrestlers (wrestlers with less than 15 matches against Division I opponents) were factoring wins over lower ranked wrestlers as if they were the underdog. That has been fixed. One example you can look at is Josiah Kline at 125. https://www.wrestlestat.com/wrestler/45924/kline-josiah/profile

Don't forget, If you want to play around with the rankings yourself, try out the Tournament Projection Tool...

Do you manually enter all of the results, or does Track allow you to tap-into their database?

Manual, it sucks. Also why CKLV results aren't entered yet...

Have you ever contacted them about having a read only account, an RSS feed, or some other way of getting the data. Seems if you provided advertising for Track it would be a reasonable request.

I was wondering (not complaining, trying to understand) how Mattin would be ahead of LaMont.

Thanks for this stuff. Love looking at different ways of evaluating wrestlers/results.

How can Wilcke and Gunther not be in there or did I miss them?
Wilcke may be slightly overranked on other sites due to last years finish. But let’s not forget he was number 34 at 197 going into last years tourney. Is completely plausible that Wrestlestat has him ranked where he should be based on algorithm

OK but I would be surprised if he is not at least top 20.

Could be. There's a big difference between writing an algorithm that ranks guys using nothing but math and people ranking them based on the eyeball test. A couple big wins at NCAAs gives you a lot of visibility, but to the models they're just two more good wins.

Current rankings, Flo vs. Intermat vs. Wrestlestat:

125: Stickley (5-3): UR Flo, UR Intermat, #67 WS
133: Laux (6-1): UR Flo, UR Int, #46 WS
141: Turk (5-4): UR Flo, UR Int, #50 WS
149: Sorensen (5-0): #2 Flo, #2 Int, #2 WS
157: Kemerer (5-0): #3 Flo, #3 Int, #2 WS
165: Marinelli (0-0): #13 Flo, #14 Int, #27 WS
Young (3-2): UR Flo, UR Int, #52 WS
174: Gunther (5-0): UR Flo, UR Int, #48 WS
184: Bowman (4-1): UR Flo, UR Int, #107 WS
197: Wilcke (5-0): #8 Flo, #10 Int, #40 WS
285: Stoll (5-0): #7 Flo, #7 Int, #10 WS

FYI, Young's losses this year are to #6 Walsh (Flo #4) and #2 Imar (Flo #1), with a win over #30 Fogarty (Flo #19). He's doing better than his record and WS ranking indicate.
