Wrestling collective question

Who would one talk to about participating?
In youth wrestling I presume? Contact your local High School, or a club or YMCA if you have one.

If you have a high school team locally reach out to anyone on the Coaching Staff. They should have a school website with phone numbers and likely email accounts as well.

So, Blue isn’t the president of the wrestling collective any more?

OK, I'm really confused and perhaps my question wasn't clear. I would interested in speaking with those that are (apparently) organizing a NIL collective to support Iowa Wrestling. Just looking to have a conversation on how one might help the teams live within the current rules (or lack thereof).
Got it. lol

Well, the first step would be to use all of your words. “NIL,” collective would be a swell start.

Nope, my bad. I didn't pay enough attention to the thread title and thought you were inquiring about getting a youngster involved in wrestling. Which happens a bit around here.

I was trying to help, but you know what they say......... no good deed goes unpunished. 😏

That's because you've been taking classes over at BWI. Nice mahi haul BTW!
Thanks, it was a really good day. I believe I may have done well in the Cozumel sport fishing tourney with a haul like I had, but hard to say. They haven’t posted any results to compare myself to yet. (No, I wasn’t in it).

You know, its weird that I haven’t seen anything posted about the NCAA statement on Collectives and NIL’s. Would certainly seem to me that they intend to put an end to the million dollar NIL Lottery for the best players in the nation.

Of course, we kinda know how that will go Already. The rich will continue to get richer. The middle class will continue to get the crumbs and the poors will all find new homes. Thereby creating the 4 super conferences at some point.

I would start with a discussion with someone at the UofI AD office, they can put you into touch with the people organizing the collective for the 'revenue' sports - Football, M/W BB, and I have heard mixed messages about whether wrestling will be included in that, or have its own. I'd imagine baseball, and probably other sports get included eventually, but its not the problem in those sports as much (yet).

It sounds like this is going to be done mainly to benefit charities, which seems like a nice touch imo. Leistikow wrote a little about it here - https://www.hawkcentral.com/story/s...es-transfer-nil-college-landscape/9774066002/ looking to have it in place by the end of the summer

If you want anything you contribute to be wrestling specific, its probably smart to be upfront about that with Barta or anyone else you may talk to. Just for clarity, the university wont be officially attached to this I'm sure, but they will know who is organizing it, and I'm sure the compliance people will be very abreast of the goings on

I'm also confident there are people on the board who are intimately involved (I am not) and can guide you better, but hope this was at least somewhat helpful
