Wrestling Shoes

It's been over 30 years since I needed to buy wrestling shoes. I can work the google machine and look all over the internet, but wanted to try and see if anyone here has recommendations for best place to buy shoes. My son is going to try this in 8th grade so they don't need to be top of the line. Any good recs out there from the cesspool?

Best to try on rather than go the online route.

Can probably get a decent pair of Asics for $60 I would think. Matflex series.

go with Asics. Just do amazon. The sporting goods stores are pretty scant on Wrestling attire. I'm very happy your son is giving it a go. I had 3 boys wrestle. 2 Started in 1st grade and the oldest started in 8th grade. All of them ended up being state qualifiers. In fact, the kid who started in 8th picked it up quickly and by the time he was a junior in HS he was winning the majority of his matches.

That is awesome. I was not a good wrestler. Lettered 4 times, but it was due to my willingness to make weight. Love the sport and am hoping my son does as well.

I've got 2 kids doing it right now and honestly that just seems totally insane to me based on my area. I think you'd get absolutely smoked by people if you didn't start until 6th grade in the DSM metro unless you're just a phenomenal athlete.
