Many speculating DD and Indiana had agreed to things months ago, and that Tucker intentionally shut things down so he could play at Indiana.

And then a WVU player posted this:

Angry musings from a jilted fanbase? Probably.

But the fact that any of this is plausible only proves that the system is completely broken

I'm not sure about all of this, but one thing that hasn't been discussed much is that DD pretty clearly wanted the hell out of Morgantown.

Perhaps whatever it is he didn't like will scare away other coaching candidates as well.
That…or the dude’s #1 priority was money. For himself and to buy players.

Which is perfectly fine. And if that’s the case Indiana is clearly a better place for him than Iowa or WVU

Imagine if Iowa had a player in a major sport who collected $1 million in NIL payments and who was a coach’s son.

And then only played about 25% of season.
I know this just sounds like sour grapes, but there is something grimy about demanding more NIL money when a huge chunk of the money is going straight to your son.

Iowa fans have seen enough of that kind of nepotism to last a lifetime

Was Tucker's shoulder injury worse than Freeman's pinky? Both guys got NIL to play and shut it down.

It is nice to see WVU whine, until you have to wonder if they will hire McCollom. I have to agree with Combes, Indiana looks like they are throwing away money in desperation.

If that’s all true, and it’s true BM was Beth’s first choice all along, I’m sure a little dirt was all she needed to turn away from DD.
And it would make sense that DD (his agent) put a rosy spin on it saying he was no longer interested knowing Beth wasn't going to say anything publicly. We wouldn't have beaten out IU for him regardless, but if this is the situation then it didn't end up being us v. them for his services.

You've got to think that any information coming out about what went down between Iowa and DeVries is coming from the DeVries camp. I mean, Darian's got to justify his decision. Doesn't hurt to throw Iowa under the bus a bit.

Beth isn't going to say anything to anyone.

I'm not going to argue that our NIL situation is rosy, but it's possible that it's not as bad as some of the doomsayers have been saying over the past 18 hours.

I've decided to completely ignore WV fans. I watched quite a few podcasts prior to DD to Indiana. Not a good impression of their fanbase in general.

They forget that B1G light years ahead of B12 in terms of revenue share. A better base to start buidling things, and yea Iowa needs to add on more to NIL but that can be done.

WV fans seems to clutch at straws now with a false sense of superiority - kinda irritating.

Did we dodge a bullet?
Well if this is all true, there was never any chance DeVries would be Iowa's coach... It would mean he's had a verbal deal locked in with Indiana for months.

This whole story is plausible, and disgusting if true.

A person of low integrity would say why not make 1 million this year while not playing, get an extra year of eligibility, and make even more money next year!

NIL is still a concern. If Beth was doing some recon and got a whiff of this, well done. If only Barta had looked that closely at Lick.

Revenue sharing takes a little weight off of NIL needs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Big Ten and SEC schools will have the highest revenue sharing, making Iowa one of the top 34 schools in that regard.
