I replied to the thread @Phenomenally Frantastic started about the USPS losing money. But the USPS is actually a Fed organization which can get a letter quickly across the country for not much postage.

I think people should start screaming about all the subsidies and money we give to private Corps that make billions. Why do we have to give Big Oil companies $20 Billion last year and over the years when they make a ton of money.

Sometimes I wish our Govt would do what the Arabs did after WW2 and nationalize the petrochemical industries. Run it as a not for profit and see what that would do for prices.

The same goes for Big Pharma which gets to make money on Govt Discoveries and Big Ag which gets about $30 billion in tax money per year to make them socialististic at best.

$20.5 billion

According to the IMF, the U.S. government ranks second in the world in its support of the oil and gas industry. The U.S. federal and state governments give the fossil fuel industry over $20.5 billion in support each year through the tax code, inadequate royalty rates, and direct funding.

Conflating government entities with non-government entities in this argument doesn't really make sense.

The USPS could lose money until kingdom come, and it would be supported (unless we decide to let private sector companies transport mail, which is a different scenario).

Stimulus to private sector industry happens regularly. Should it, probably not, but there are reasonable arguments for that.

When USPS, the IRS, the VA, whoever loses money...well so what...

Now if you want to discuss whether the USPS should even exist, then that's an interesting discussion.

I didnt start this whole bitch about the USPS. Another poster phenomically whats his name did when he seemed to be blasting the USPS for losing money. I am just trying to show that it is illogical to bitch about a govt entity that almost all citizens like, approve of, and does a great job but not talk about the big money socialistic give away of billions to private companies.

And I am firmly against giving taxpayer money to private companies that make billions or millions in net earnings especially when many of them pay little to no taxes by using loopholes and other methods to be tax scofflaws.
