Gosh folks, what is there to say? We’re not a great football team and it certainly showed last week. Northwestern comes to town this week just in time for Homecoming, so maybe that’s exactly what the doctor ordered to get the team back on the winning track. We’ll find out Saturday afternoon, let’s get to this week’s queries:
1. Iowa’s offensive yardage output is headed the wrong direction lately, now averaging just 347 yards a game. Will Iowa gain 350 yards or more this week against the Wildcats?
2. As bad as Iowa’s offense is, Northwestern is even worse at 287 yards a game. Will the Iowa defense keep NW’s output under 265 yards this week?
3. Iowa’s passing yards per game has now fallen to 128th in the country at 137 yards per contest. Will Iowa manage to pass for at least 160 yards this week?
4. Iowa and NW are both very good at keeping their opponents scoring total low, both teams yielding slightly less than 20 points per game to their opponents. Will either of these teams score more than 21 points in this contest?
5. Rhys Dakin continues to climb up the national leaderboard in punting average, now 20th overall at 44.79 yards. Will Rhys average 48 yards a punt this week against NW?
6. Drew Stevens has made 10 of 12 FG attempts through 7 games. Will Drew successfully kick 2 or more FGs this week?
7. Hard to believe, but Iowa has successfully moved the chains on 3rd down 45.2% of the time. Will Iowa’s 3rd down efficiency be at least 45% this week?
8. Iowa’s turnover margin is +0.86 per game. NW’s margin is +0.71 per game. Will Iowa win the turnover battle this week by taking the ball away at least one more time than NW?
9. Iowa and NW are generally well-disciplined teams who avoid penalties only giving up total penalty yards per game of 26.43 and 42.14 yards respectively. Will NW be penalized for more yards this week than the Hawks?
10. Kaden Wetjen continues to emerge as a reliable special teams return man for the Hawks, he’s currently averaging 26.2 yards per kickoff return. Will Kaden find some seams Saturday and average more than 30 yards per KO return this week?
TIEBREAKER - Total points scored in this game by both teams:
Good luck everyone and Go Hawks!
