No ice cream trucks in Des Moines (at least not the kind that drive thru neighborhoods). A kid got hit by a car and killed when she ran into the street near an ice cream truck back in the 60’s, so the city banned them. A company tried to get the ban lifted a few years ago, but no dice.

Apparently ice cream trucks are too dangerous for Des Moines.
