The bull with a pin, has Kaleb young in his bracket. They should meet in the finals. I wish track would dashboard the matches.

Happel with a fall and then a major. Rathbun with a fall. These two will likely meet in the 141 finals.

Matt Malcom with 2 tech falls, has Colston Dibiasi(iowa state) on the other side of his bracket. This is a weak tournament.

Update all 8 hawks are in the semis. Perez, Happel, Rathbun, Shaw, Malcom, Marinelli, Young, Northrup

Edit:
Perez: Bye, Bye, Fall 4:32
Happel: Fall 0:00, Maj 14-2, Maj 15-7
Rathbun: Bye, Fall 2:04, Dec 8-3

As expected.

Rathbun Fall 5:31. Has Happel in finals

Is this the first time Amar and Young have seen each other in a tourney?

This tournament seems like a complete waste of time other than Young vs Marinelli and they could have done that back home. Where is the value? Been better off to have an intrasquad tournament. Lol hard to believe this time of year that the Hawks would attend this type of tournament. Could have at least had the kids all wrestle up a weight class. Especially Young.

They said the same thing about Kemerer wrestling 149 all last year and he's doing just fine at 157 this year.
Kemerer was a top 10 blue chip recruit. Young has a bunch of potential, but he's not Kemerer good. Also Kemerer was lanky and looked like he had a frame to grow into (still does) Young looks pretty filled out already.

Young should be starting this year. He isn't going to be a full sized 174 next year.

Young will benefit more from a varsity year at 174 next year than a varsity spot for half a year this year at 165. We are not going to win either year, so we should do what's in the best interest of our wrestlers. And Gunther is benefiting from his year this year. Gunther is already pretty good and will be ready to step in at 165 or 174 in the future in case of injury, etc.

I tend to agree with you, but there is a lot of value at this time of the year, at any level, to see some different bodies, different attacks and different styles. Even if it isn't the best of competition.

Go Hawks!!

And to work on your own offense and try some things on actual competition that you have been working on in the room all year

I am confused by this. Is Marinelli a blue chip recruit? If so there doesn't seem to be a big gap between Marinelli and Young. Young might he Kemerer good

Marinelli and Young will be legit AA threats next year in my opinion. Marinelli will be a 2-6 type guy and Young a 4-R12 type. Love the ceiling on both of them but a year in the program and weight room will be good. I think Rutt is helping our guys a lot. Carton, Kem and Gunther are prime examples of guys who have all looked strong for their weight class.

The kids pay for everything themselves. It's their money so you telling them they aren't getting value makes me chuckle.

It's February. There aren't big time open tournaments this time of year. Good to get them on the mat competing, regardless.

Wonder if PSU can still get Nick Lee into the lineup this year? Saw he got pinned today at the Edinboro Open while he was getting majored by Zach Synon. Happel has a win over Synon this year. Probably had the flu.
