Young

I think it's the next logical and obvious decision to make regarding the offense. Young is more durable and fits the mold for the style of running we need to feature most. I was impressed with Sargents running and his passion catching/run after the catch on Saturday. His catch and run against UNI was nice too.

TYs lack of speed becomes less of a liability once the defense is tired. Of course, the other guys' speed becomes more of an asset when the defense has bounced around with TY for a few downs. Iowa has nice options at running back. Having said that TY is starting to distinguish himself as a notch above the other two fellas.

We are very fortunate to have the 3 RBs we have but I like the idea of Toren starting because he is more likely to establish our running game early in the contest.

Young seems to have better vision and sees the cutback better than the other two.

Iowa has three solid RBs. Each has his own style. I agree that all three should play when healthy, and one will probably be featured more than the other two depending on the opponent. Happy for Young to get the start this week, and hope that IKM is 100 percent by game time. Meanwhile, Sargent keeps doing his thing, showing good moves and making people miss while catching the ball when he gets the chance.

Wadley was a rare Iowa RB and is missed for sure, but the Hawkeyes' three-headed monster is getting the job done.

I am a bigger fan of Young, but all 3 have an important role.

Young missed an important block on one play this past week.

He came out to the near side and tried to make a cut block. Totally whiffed. That DE or OLB forced a bad play, IIRC.

Young needs to shore that up, and with his size and power you would think he would be our best blocker. Sounds like Sargent is our best pass protector, though.

I think when all 3 RBs are healthy we need to start Young to wear the D down then come with the combo of IKM and Sargeant throughout the middle of the game and then come back with a fresh Young to close the game out. But I trust our coaches. There really is no bad choice.

This season is shaping up to be what I wish 2016 had been. Thunder & lightning very powerful. But the 3rd guy who brought his own unique thing (DMX) was benched. I'll chalk up the 2018 approach to BF managing his personnel better than GD. I've seen Brian use the fullbacks the last 2 years and smile thinking back to the Fry years. Our opponents aren't used to seeing us use all of our weapons. Puts us at full strength.

I think IKM makes sense to start when healthy because of his versatility and the defense has more to prepare for with him. He's got that home run ability. Young is more one dimensional, but I prefer seeing him in there, especially in the second half. He seems to find the holes better or just makes a hole for himself. Harder to take down. Sargent is that change of pace back that goes with Young so well. You really can't go wrong with any of them. Nice problem to have.
