I know there have been some threads about this before but is there any doubt that Young is our starting tailback? He was a monster and has shown the most ability to get yards on the ground and he caught that really nice touchdown pass to boot.
I think Sargent is the best "All Around" back we have.Young is good but I still contest Sargent is the best of the three. I’m content with whom ever lines up in the backfield though.
We are very fortunate to have the 3 RBs we have but I like the idea of Toren starting because he is more likely to establish our running game early in the contest.I think it's the next logical and obvious decision to make regarding the offense. Young is more durable and fits the mold for the style of running we need to feature most. I was impressed with Sargents running and his passion catching/run after the catch on Saturday. His catch and run against UNI was nice too.
Iowa has three solid RBs. Each has his own style. I agree that all three should play when healthy, and one will probably be featured more than the other two depending on the opponent. Happy for Young to get the start this week, and hope that IKM is 100 percent by game time. Meanwhile, Sargent keeps doing his thing, showing good moves and making people miss while catching the ball when he gets the chance.
Wadley was a rare Iowa RB and is missed for sure, but the Hawkeyes' three-headed monster is getting the job done.
