Your thoughts on defenders holding up the fist to say 4th down when they are losing by 3 scores late in the game?

Late in the game then I think it is lame. If you dont win you have to put on some spin. I dont know why those two rhymes came out.

But most everyone knows it is a stop and it is 4th down. I always thought this was fairly meaningless as I would rather they head butt or high five or something or really just get back on your side of the LOS in case the other team wants to go for it.

It happened again at Minny last week and all the time.

All the celebrating after every f***king play has gotten very old. As I think it was Bo Schembechler that said about celebrating TDs: "just lay the ball on the ground and act like you've been there before." Could be wrong about the source.

Its not as bad as a DB celebrating a big hit on a 12 yard completion for a first down.
No doubt. Or a defensive lineman stomping around when he makes a play, when the other teams been going up and down the field on them all game. Give up 300yds rushing and act like you did something when you stop them once for a 1 yard loss. Totally ridiculous. Maybe let the OL guys stomp around and make gestures every time they rip a hole through your defense for a 10 to 20 yd or more run.

We loved Keith Duncan blowing kisses though, amirite?
That was witty and not often repeated. I don't think there should be any penalties, and the players should have some fun, but celebrating every tackle... Maybe I just watched too much NFL yesterday.

I think all those gestures are lame as f***.

I'm glad I root for a college and pro team that doesn't need to do that sh** to celebrate good plays and getting stops. (Situational awareness)

Give the people what they want.
Bring back the Merton Hanks chicken dance.

Aren’t we taught from a young age to never stop playing and give it your all the whole game no matter the score?
It’s honestly fascinating the things this board finds to bitch about. Never change FB board.

Because of Sunday obligations, for the last few years by the time I got to turn on the TV Sunday PM it is always after 3 and the late games were on usually meaning no games of interest. At that point I gave up watching the NFL and honestly haven't caught a game in a few years. Sunday I was at a place where games were showing and I was glancing through like 6 different games and noticed that there is stomping and celebrating on every play regardless of the result in every single game. Call me an old fogey (I am) but if I'd done any of that even once in high school, I'd have been put so far down the end of the bench, they'd have needed a bond issue to build the bench extension. Ridiculous. But I guess I'm out of touch. But I don't miss the NFL. College has gotten almost as bad.

I'd rather have them acknowledge that they are aware that it is 4th down rather than think it's 3rd down and approach a play incorrectly because of that.

I’m always amused when the behavior of high-level athletes is criticized by guys who were never close to playing at that level. I’m sure in your fantasies, when you’re a P-5 or NFL superstar, you also have Joe Montana-esque on-field demeanor. But maybe consider that in reality world, playing with high emotions and doing what you need to do to maintain a high level of play, including routines with your teammates regardless of the score, is how most of those guys operate…

Regardless of how talented or accomplilshed you are, there is no "I" in TEAM.
;)

The shaking a finger after an incomplete pass by a DB and then getting burned 2 or 3 times for tds really irks me.

Yes, the final measure in any contest does not happen until the contest is over. That is why all these overreactions after most plays are meaningless in the context of why they are competing.
