Just talked with Zamari Maxwell, who is at the airport right now getting ready to leave Iowa.
He said the official visit blew him away this weekend. He loves Iowa, loves the team, and the family environment the coaching staff has there.
Maxwell's host for the weekend was freshman wide receiver Devonte Young, who he said introduced him to everyone and made him feel like part of the team already. He said the game on Saturday night was nuts. He was very impressed with the atmosphere.
In meeting with the coaches, they told him about their situation at defensive back, graduating both starting corners, and said they want at least two corners in this class that can come in ready to compete for playing time next year.
Maxwell said no question Iowa is his favorite right now. When I asked him about a potential commitment, he said, "I’m not going to say too much" about that. Maxwell said the plan at the moment is to take 1-2 more official visits, probably to UCF and Kentucky this season, and then made a decision after that.
