Yeah, some small college level team actually lost their national championship because their coach loaned his beater of a car to players to get around campus...........Why on earth is a basketball player driving the AD's vehicle? That has to be a violation.
Heck, at the small college I went to, my head coach gave a ride to a teammate and they had to report it as a minor infraction.
Crashes into piole at 3:00am, lies to officers about his name, officers notice him stumbling, recognize he is Zavier Simpson. He was not taken in, and no breathalyzer was done? Ticket for driving too fast under condition? Caught quite a break.
I think your right. Kid has been driving it since Sept. For all intents and purposes the car is probably Xavier's.
Or Jeff Jackson.....For all intents and purposes the car is probably Xavier's.

I can see that. No traffic at that hour.Maybe Zavier was just taking the car for a wash...
Technically...it was the AD's son's car. Everyone believes that, right?
The NCAA will believe it, so nothing to see here.
For all intents and purposes the car is probably Xavier's.
Didn't an Iowa coach get fired for helping a girl on his team pay for her rent or meals? That's ten times worse than giving a car to a top basketball player. The Iowa coach was stupid. Didn't he have a relative who could have did this for him
And in Iowa City.Good to know that it's apparently perfectly legal to give a fake name and lie to police in Ann Arbor. Down here in Florida that would probably get you arrested.
And he got very lucky to only get suspended for Nebraska but reinstated for Rutgers. Without his 10 assists against Rutgers they might have lost. Very lucky.
Would seem to constitute as an improper benefit, if you ask me.Also driving the Athletic Director’s car?
For all intents and purposes the car is probably Xavier's.

Simpson told police the car belonged to Evan Manuel, a student manager for the basketball team who is the son of athletic director Warde Manuel.
So, it's possible that the AD bought the car for his son and had it in his name and that the son let Simpson use the car. I mean It's also very possible the AD just gave Simpson the car but this does at least make it possible the AD didn't know Simpson was driving it.
tks Still needed to have a booster involved at IowaI think you're thinking of the volleyball coach. He told a player she would be on scholarship, she got here, she wasn't. So he paid for stuff like food and housing. Not allowed by the NCAA.
In the case of Simpson, I believe I read the AD's son was a manager on the basketball team, and the son and Simpson are friends. So plausible that Simpson is using his car. But a lot of items stretch the credulity as others have pointed out. No breath test on site. No charges for falsely representing himself to police. Not the end of the world, but definitely weird.
So, Jok's problem was that he was riding his own scooter and not Barta's?
