They'd be on the bubble for sure, but not in.

4-1 with the only loss being at Illinois and then we're talking. BTT tourney wins aren't going to mean very much unless Iowa plays on Saturday or Sunday.

These 5 losses are killers.

Just win 3 of these 5 and we are sitting ALL ALONE in 3rd place in the B1G at 18-8, 10-5 (instead of 15-11, 7-8).

Sure. Why not just win them all?🙄

Anyone who thinks this team is dancing is trippin.
It ain't happening.
They will lose at MSU and at Illinois for sure.
No one predicts they will, but stranger things have happened. I could see us winning at MSU. People always overestimate what it takes to make the NCAA.

The WI win went a long way in solidifying IA into the NIT; good deal. It looks like we're at the very top of the NET ranking of the B1G teams that will likely not make the dance.

I'd love to see IA make the NIT. Good for player development, moral, and we get to see 1+ more games. Win-Win.

I agree that this Hawks team would benefit from more games in the NIT. If OSU hangs on to beat PU they probably jump Hawks in net ratings? Hmmmm.

I don't think this particular team can win no matter what it does from here on out:

- There is no great player on the team. Sandfort and Perk are good, PMac has a lot of potential but is extremely inconsistent. Freeman is good, but young and just not there yet.
- We are not quick enough on the perimeter to guard a good 1, not big enough on the interior to guard a good 5, not a great shooting team, still can't play defense very well overall, isn't strong enough to play physical, and above all ...
- There is nobody on this team that you can give the ball to in the last 3 or 4 minutes to win a game or to create a shot at the end of a shot clock. That is why they blow leads and why they would get bounced in the NCAA tournament in the first round if they make it because everyone else has better guard play.

So if they close out the season 1-4 and lose in the first or second round of the BTT and then even if they win the NIT, nobody will be happy. If they go 4-1 and make it to the BTT final, go to the NCAA and not make it to the sweet 16, nobody will be happy.

if this team goes 4-1 and makes the NCAA tournament this year , I will be happy

Tony created a game tying bucket in regulation and a game winning bucket at the end of the game.
He has the handle to drive and strong enough to finish at the rim or stop and pop.
It's true we do not have an all American on this team but we are a middle of pack team like about 10 others in the league.
Did you expect us to have a 4th all American in 4 years?
If we make NIT we have overachieved.

well they've hit 15 wins already (+ 1 from my predictions)

I had them going 1-4 to close out the year

Had 16 as my prediction early on. Think we might get 1 more than that. MSU is the best chance at stealing one but pretty tough to win there.

You lost me with PMac having a lot of potential... Had you said but is tough as an overcooked noodle, that would have been much more accurate.

Iowa's remaining 5 games:

Quad 1: Home (1-30), Neutral (1-50), Away (1-75)
at #20 Michigan State
at #12 Illinois
at #59 N'western
vs # 12 Illinois

Quad 3: Home (76-160), Neutral (101-200), Away (136-240)
vs #100 Penn State
4-1 is doable but probably not realistic. Need to go 3-2 and win 1 or2 in BIG10 tourny and hope for other bubble teams to lose. 19 wins will get you close but 20 seems to be the magic#

That's a tough finish, but that also means lots of opportunity. Hawks want a chance of playing its way onto the bubble, it all begins tomorrow night in East Lansing. Nothing to lose, so why not play loose and try to steal a few.

I like your attitude, and will be surprised and thrilled if Iowa wins 4 of the next 5. I would be very happy if they won 3 of the next 5 and finished at .500 in the B1G, which many were saying was impossible after our terrible start in the B1G and the blowout by ISU.

I didn't think .500 was a possibility. I still don't, but they are closer than I'd imagined.

4-1 and BTT final would be quite an accomplishment, so I'd be happy. Not making the sweet16 is 28 year goose egg for Fran, so par for course.

Not having an implosion in off season with Freeman leaving would make me happy. Getting Perkins back for another year would make me happy. I'm expecting Bowen is gone. Maybe Riley.

lowered expectations are the key to happiness... I "expect" they go 1-4, but hope the go 5-0.

We will be major underdogs in all 3 road games. Illinois at home will be close to a pick ‘em and Penn St just kicked off their best player. 1-4 is probably realistic and 2-3 would be good. We’ll be 7-10 point dogs in all road games.

I hadn't given up early, because I saw potential in the freshman class and Dix. Letting UM beat them at home and letting the lead at Mary Land slip away, probably cost them getting to .500.

It did but honestly wouldn’t have helped them much in the Net rankings. Wisconsin win was more important than those 2 games. An upset of any of those 3 road games and beating Illinois could possibly (not probable) get us in some kind of discussion. Got a long ways to go.

True, but I would be shocked if any team gets an invite to the dance with a losing conference record. Add those two wins, and Iowa would be 9-6 heading into the last 5.
