What’s going on at ASU or is it what’s going on at Little Rock? They put the beat down on ASU, which is good for wrestling in general.

I feel like Little Rock has put a decent little team together considering they just started their program a few years ago I believe. However ASU shouldn’t be losing to them and zeke should be embarrassed.

Little Rock has a solid team, I think they currently have five ranked wrestlers including two freshmen Nasir Bailey and Stephen Little who could AA. Might be tougher for Little as 97 is a pretty tough weight, but he did beat Jaxon Smith earlier this year. They should contend for the conference title.

Illinois Wrestling Dual vs. Northwestern Postponed

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Due to an internal medical condition with the Northwestern team, Illinois wrestling's scheduled dual against the Wildcats on Saturday, January 20, has been postponed. A new competition date will be announced when available.

LINCOLN, Neb.Matt Ramos, Joey Blaze and Brody Baumann all earned big wins, but Purdue Wrestling ultimately lost its match with No. 6 Nebraska 27-14 on Sunday afternoon in the Devaney Center.

The true freshman Blaze's third period pin of No. 3 Peyton Robb highlighted the day for the Boilermakers (5-6, 0-3 B1G) who also saw Ramos add his seventh career tech and Baumann pick up the first ranked win of his career.

To start the dual the No. 2 ranked Ramos followed up his win over Iowa's No. 1 Drake Ayala on Friday with a clinical 19-4 tech fall (7:00) victory over Nebraska's Alan Koehler on Sunday. Four takedowns and a four-point nearfall gave him his first tech since the opening weekend of the season and further solidify his bid for the unanimous No. 1 spot at 125.

No. 16 Joey Blaze picked up the second top-5 win of his debut campaign in the old gold and black by pinning (6:22) two-time All-American No. 3 Peyton Robb. Trailing 2-1 late in the third with Robb on top, Blaze backed out of a one-swipe hold against him and put the Cornhusker on his back for the fall.

It was his third pin and ninth bonus point win of the year for Blaze, who trails only Ramos in both of those categories. He is the first true freshman during head coach Tony Ersland's tenure to earn two top-5 wins in his first year.

Redshirt-freshman Brody Baumann fought for a 7-2 decision over No. 29 Bubba Wilson, bagging the first points of the match with a takedown in the first 10 seconds. He followed it up with another takedown in the third to secure his first win over a ranked opponent.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State wrestling team welcomed the two-time defending National Champion and top ranked Penn State Nittany Lions to Jenison Field House on Sunday afternoon, falling 35-0 in facing its third-straight ranked opponent.

The Spartans drop to 7-3 overall with an 0-3 Big Ten record while Penn State advances to 6-0 and a perfect 3-0 in B1G play.

Starting at 125-pounds, redshirt junior Tristan Lujan took on the visiting No. 14-ranked Braeden Davis. A quick double-legged takedown from Davis started the match, but there was not match action through two periods. Davis scored another takedown in the third period which proved to be the difference maker in the 7-3 decision and got the scoring started for Penn State as it took an early 3-0 lead.

No. 21-ranked 157-pound senior Chase Saldate and No. 1-ranked Levi Haines put on an epic performance for the 1000 plus fans in attendance. Saldate led the attack early as he executed a single-legged takedown and rode Haines to start racking up riding time.

Haines was able to slip the grasp of the Gilroy, California, native near the end of the first period to cut Saldate's lead to 3-1. After taking down position to start the second period, Haines scored on an escape, but neither wrestler would score for the remainder of the second. A third period takedown by Haines sent the match into sudden victory knotted up at 5-5. After two scoreless sudden victory periods, a stalling point was rewarded to Saldate in the first tiebreaker round, but a Haines reversal in the final moments of the second tiebreaker gave the top ranked Nittany Lion a 7-6 victory.

Despite the score, MSU put up a valiant effort against the top ranked Nittany Lions with six matches at 125, 141, 149, 157, 174, 184, and the heavyweight all ending in decisions.

Michigan State will continue its homestand next week as they host No. 22-ranked Wisconsin on Friday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.

Why isn't Mesenbrink ranked higher, dude is walking through quality opponents.

And what is a Little Rock? Where the heck did they come from?

First year and less experience would be my guess.

A first year guy does’t have the benefit of a resume to get a high ranking and will have to work his way up from the bottom. Also, look at the rankings for 165. Other than Amine, who can you say that he should be ranked ahead of? He’ll wrestle Caliendo on Feb 9th, but won’t have a chance at Hamiti until the B1Gs.
