1. Time to make a move with your staff Fran. Sherm needs to go, not sure what he does. You must hire a defensive specialist coach who can coach up the boys to some level of competence.

Like others have said, hire a focused defensive coach & practice that more than once a season. I think Fran hits the portal, but doesn't have the cash to offer. His only pitch is we have high powered offense & play in the Big10. Kids will get more exposure & enhance pro prospects. That will attract more mid major talent & hopefully he'll hit a jackpot player at some point.
I expect she’ll say something like this… Fran here’s the deal you’re a decent coach not a great coach and although you have win quite a few games, the fans are encouraging me to hire the next coach, they’re not gonna like so I apologize. But we’re gonna have to move on. although keep your schedule open when we get rid of the next Coach, we may consider you again ?

It’s an observation based on what I see, but you know that.
Doesn’t take a triple PHD in sports history to see the men’s program sucks, given the money of the Big Ten. anybody with power and ambition would change things.
So, your conclusion is that BG, who has been the permanent AD for 2 1/2 months, not firing a 14-year head coach, the winningest in school history, 1 year removed from a 5-year run of NCAA Tourney appearances (counting 2020), who still has 4 years and ~$14M guaranteed on his contract, proves that she has no power or ambition and is only a puppet/enforcer for Barb Wilson? Cool. What other "observations" have you had?
He had an average season, nothing too terrible and nothing too great either. He has the foundation for a good team next year so I want to see significant improvement. Maybe 3-5 more wins in the regular season, 2-3 more wins in the Big 10. And then I would do whatever needed to be done to keep his current players here and help him find whatever players he needs to fill out the roster.
On #3. Can we swap out a regular season B1G title for B? Or at least as a B1G title or S16?
Yes it absolutely proves that. And NCAA tournaments aren't good enough they've never been good enough. That's a loser mentality.
Fran has to take it upon himself to raise the NIL money----he's gotta go hit the stump..do road shows..I-club events...dinners with big donors. The university can not offer special perks to NIL donors by NCAA regulations--I don't think the AD can do. The fact the NIL money isn't coming in has a lot to do with product and reflection on how ineffective in marketing Fran has been.
We're probably a 8-12 to 10-10 regular conference season team next year with the current talent/recuits and losing Tony and Bowen. I don't see any teams in the sweet16 that have 4 starters that all playbelow the rim. Imagine if Harding gets hurt and we went thru a season like we did in 2017'ish when Fran tried to get by with 2G's Ellengsen and Maishe Dailey has his PGs because he hadn't kept a proper roster.
I don't see Fran getting fired. If I was AD I'd make Fran get rid of Dilliard and hire a strong Defensive Assistant and put in some goals on defense not bau being 13th or 14th in B1G defense. Getting a strong assistant on the team would allow Beth to fire Fran in future and put the assistant in as interim coach to audition for job and keep the existing players from transferring out.
I would not extend Fran's contract but I would be ok with incentives for finishing 2nd or better in conference, winning coach of the year , pay minus if he loses 1st game in BTT again and a big incentive for winning 2 games in NCAA tourney.

I've gotten tired of calling people out on that fallacy...but I still feel obligated to do so.
I think FM's leash would have been much tighter had Iowa been to, say, 3-4 Sweet 16s in the 11 seasons that preceded his arrival. He's still living a bit off of the goodwill he gained by digging the program out of the doldrums...but that goodwill is fading fast.
