So now two Iowa games are exclusively on Peacock?

Way back in 2002, for my 16th birthday, I got very drunk and very sick off Hawkeye vodka. It is definitely the worst and the cheapest.

    Good Write-Up On Nick Jackson

I think he ends up at WILL, because Higgins is also very good and has been in our system for like 4 years. He should know our defense better than someone (even an experienced someone) who will arrive in the Summer.

About that 'Big10 West is the weakest P5/G5 division in the NCAA' claim

TBF, they are playing better teams. Lol.

    KXNO interview with Swarm founder

Are you just flipping through a fallacy rolodex at this point?

    KXNO interview with Swarm founder

I completely agree with that. My preference would be for players to unionize and collectively bargain for a piece of the overall revenue pie and then for universities to be banned from having any involvement with players marketing themselves. But until that happens, I think this is the way it...

Iowa Swarm Collective … to donate or not?

That's exactly my point. He doesn't want to share donor information because he wants to keep that donor revenue for his department. He's being shortsighted and greedy. In reality, getting better players would likely mean more wins, which would drive donations of all kinds and benefit his...

    KXNO interview with Swarm founder

Nice strawman, but I think my meaning was clear. I don't think there is any realistic risk. And I don't think he is truly worried about legal ramifications. I think he just wants to protect the money his department gets from donors. I don't think he wants to share with the players.

    SP coming back baby!

I was really disappointed for him when I heard it was a torn labrum and rotator cuff. I don't think he was an NFL quarterback, anyway, but either of those injuries is enough to ruin a pitcher's career in baseball - not always, but usually, at least in terms of expecting a permanent drop in...

    KXNO interview with Swarm founder

It's not at all absurd. And Iowa Athletics is expected to have $129 million in revenue in 2023 and their take from the TV deal will jump by around $40 million in (2024?). Almost all of that revenue is generated by football. Helping the people who actually generate that revenue by working their...

    KXNO interview with Swarm founder

I think he's using that as an excuse.

Iowa Swarm Collective … to donate or not?

It actually does. What that means is that the athletic department could absolutely afford to steer donors towards the collective. They have more than enough money to operate a competitive department. And this will be even more true once the new TV deal kicks in for the Big Ten in (2024?).

Iowa Swarm Collective … to donate or not?

I support it. I don't fault anyone else for not supporting it, with one exception. If people give money to the athletics department, but not the swarm, I question their priorities. I would rather see the people doing the work make some money than pay for another administrator or another 10%...

    Open letter from Barta

Universities sometimes share donor lists with non profits. I know, because my late wife worked for a foundation within a university and helped with fundraising. And also, if nothing else, they could simply ask donors whether they wanted them to share that info and then share the list of people...

    Open letter from Barta

I'm not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that because I can't see any logical rationale for it being okay to work with the collective, but not to share information. The idea that the latter would link them closely enough to cause Title IX problems and the former would not seems...

    Open letter from Barta

This letter is really bad in my opinion. It seems to amount of blowing a lot of smoke up a lot of butts and then saying their policy won't change. At this point, it feels like they just don't want players to get a cut of donor money. He just converted me to the "fire Barta" crowd.

University of Iowa ending relationship with The Swarm?

It's not. Organizations share donor info all the time.

University of Iowa ending relationship with The Swarm?

Yeah, I haven't cared enough about him to want him fired until now. But after the open letter he just sent, I want him gone.
