Leistikow & Dochterman Discuss the WR Room

I also want to know why so many of our receivers are hurt? It’s constant. The season was over in December. Shouldn’t guys be healed up and ready for Spring unless they had surgeries? Get on the field.

    Van Lith to...

We did use the portal as you noted, picking up Olsen. Not every portal player is a great or even good fit. I saw no interest from either side here. Maybe it was the case of her just having a bad year playing out of position. We'll get a better idea next year. And if Guyton hadn't blown out...

The Right to Die In a Dignified Manner

Bad shit will happen to all of us eventually. My dad had a stroke at 88 and never recovered really and was gone in 4-5 months. I can’t imagine if he had lived 4-5 more years and then not only is that awful they take all your money as well, which is total BS. We work our whole life to save enough...

Caitlin's Popularity Will Never Translate to the WNBA

Did you not see what @AuroraHawk posted? 5 Trans athletes in the entire state of Utah and you're asking where does it stop? Most Trans kids already have enough issues as it is. Of course there's always the anomaly of the 1 or 2 that are actually good and taking a spot. For the most part 99%...

Man some of you are obsessed w/her coming to Iowa. We got our point guard and we're done at this point. Her experiment at pt guard was a flop.

Caitlin's Popularity Will Never Translate to the WNBA

By the way I kind of agree and it's such a short season (40 games or so) and goes by so fast that I think it of course hurts attendance and TV ratings. But if it's thrown on at the same time as the college game in both mens and womens and also NBA they'd get killed there as well. Eventually...

Caitlin's Popularity Will Never Translate to the WNBA

Here’s the thing. Remember Renee Richard’s on the women’s pro tennis tour? The first trans woman on the pro tour and everyone was outraged and she was going to take over the women’s game? That was the late 70’s or early 80’s. 40 years ago. Never materialized. Again, the % of trans athletes in...

Caitlin's Popularity Will Never Translate to the WNBA

I see a little bit of both sides on this and I'm a crazy liberal. Some of the crazy stuff like @blubberhawk talking about LeBron transitioning and playing against CC. It's not happening. What is the % of trans kids that even participate in sports? Have any of your daughters truly lost a...

Caitlin's Popularity Will Never Translate to the WNBA

They would need available arenas. And now you have people spending money on the NBA that would need to buy a ticket for a WNBA game the next night? They can't and don't want to compete against the NBA.

Tell me you've also never watched an NBA game either since Jordan retired.

Caitlin's Popularity Will Never Translate to the WNBA

Were there any monster dunks at the end of her passes at Iowa? And she drew some pretty big eyes here by the way. Her viewing numbers are going to be huge at the beginning. Now if they don't play exciting ball and she struggles and they lose more than they win obviously they will go down. But...

    Rigors of WNBA

I do think she will be fine but it's certainly not easy after 38 games and accounting for having the highest usage rate in the country and then getting 2-3 weeks off and then having to play 41 more games. I'm not underestimating her at all ( nobody ever should) but the WNBA is physical.

    Minny, put in Garza!

Kings were missing 2 key players in the playoffs and 1/3 of the season in Monk and Heurter. While Heurter is more of a role player Monk is huge off the bench. Halliburton trade was fine. But I will say next year is kind of a put up or shut up year for the Kings in the playoffs. Guessing Mike...

Iowa lands former Villanova PG Lucy Olsen

I’ll agree with that a point. She’s probably going to get 1st crack at the starting position. At least she’s in line to be. Martin and Marshall who both started ahead of her were 3 year starters and thousand point scorers. It’s tough to come in 7-10 minutes a game and really make an impact...

    Bostick to the portal

Well said. To be fair it’s not clear to anyone, including the coaches why our offense is so bad.

Serious question: Optimism about any Hawkeye sports this coming year?

Not sure what you mean by being disingenuous? Who’s being disingenuous? It seems the majority of people are not optimistic about football. We ended the season in a bowl game playing possibly as bad a game as I’ve seen Iowa play since Kirk got here. We struggled almost the entire season to get...

Serious question: Optimism about any Hawkeye sports this coming year?

The title of the thread is how optimistic are you about Hawkeye sports this year. And it seems he’s with the majority of the people that are not optimistic about football. You’ve become a big women’s bball fan. Not only were we good, but we were fun. It was must see TV for the last 2 years. It’s...

    Payton Sandfort NBA Draft Writeup

It’s an interesting scenario. If he comes back is he really going to improve his draft stock much? Say he bumps up 4 pts a game and ups his 3% shooting % 3-4%. He kind of is what he is athletically. You can improve your athleticism some, but he’s going to get drafted for his skill, which is...
