    The Hampton Inn has a place called Letterman's right next door. A spruced up sports bar with a solid dinner menu. Pretty good. Taxis are plentiful (and Uber) if you want to take the short trip downtown. Have them drop you off at the Tavern (good dinner, a tad pricy but you get unlimited side...

    If tailgating in expansive grass lots (that are mowed, by the way) within a 10 minute walk to the stadium is "not so great" then I'm not sure what you find great about tailgating.
