“I don’t have the authority to do that”

Biden has always had authority to do a lot, but has chosen not to. He's always had the authority to detain every single illegal crossing the borders. There's an incredible amount of vacant warehouse space all over the country that could be outfitted to house and detain illegals, at a fraction of the cost of hotels and a monthly stipend.

Illegals know there are very few consequences to being here illegally.

The Supreme Court told him doesn’t have the authority to forgive student loans but he’s doing it anyway. He doesn’t actually seem to care what he does and does not have the authority to do.

At least my President isn't a convicted felon!

That said...when the Radical Right refuses to compromise on border issues, one's POV and strategy changes.
No, it's all about poll numbers.

I wouldn't sweat it. If/when he is reelected, I'm sure we'll hear that again no later than March 2025, perhaps in a brief filed by the usdoj indicating its intent not to defend a case filed by immigration advocates.

mines neither a convicted felon or an old worthless turd. Unfortunately those are the two types of people most will be voting for in November.
Whew, I thought you were saying you wood. nttawwt but I’m not sure Biden could give or receive in his old age.

Biden has always had authority to do a lot, but has chosen not to.
He negotiated an overhaul of our system, adding in significant resource increases that your MAGA buddies rejected.

Most normal conservatives considered it a landmark change for our border resources and policies.
Those are "permanent" fixes, not the patchwork stuff where budgets from other areas have to be raided to supplement border issues.

You seem to continually not understand this.

What was your position on the raided military funds that delayed new housing and schools for military funding, because that money was "diverted to the border"? Biden got a permanent solution for you, and and your minions shot it down.

Must be the dementia,.. Biden's apparently been confusing student debt, which he has no authority to forgive, with the border, which he has always had the authority to affect via executive order...
The Republican Party actually wants them here, because secretly their big money donors want cheap labor to exploit. The GOP had two opportunities to pass bi-partisan bills on the border but balked as a political ploy. They can blame Biden to their profoundly moronic base, while the money men get what they secretly want: more immigrants. But, as usual, the Biden administration are actually functioning adults and cucked them.

I’m sure Biden would have preferred congress pass a border bill for him to sign. When they recently failed to do so, he apparently decided he’d need to address it through an executive order. Congress had their chance, and Biden deferred to them initially, but they failed to reach an agreement.

Lest we forget

Senate Republicans block border security bill as they campaign on border chaos

The vote caps a peculiar sequence of events after Senate Republican leaders insisted on a border security agreement last year and signed off on a compromise bill before they knifed it. Democrats, wary of their political vulnerability when it comes to migration, had acceded to a variety of GOP demands to raise the bar for asylum-seekers and tighten border controls. Trump pressured GOP lawmakers to kill any deal that wasn’t “perfect,” and he succeeded.

Hr2 has been sitting on the desk for damn near a year.
As it should. It was a bargaining chip the Rs tried to use to play games with shutting down the government. Meanwhile the bipartisan bill was nuked just as soon as Convicted Felon Donald J Trump said that he wanted the border weak to use as a campaigning issue.
