1-3 in the B1G

Just protect Carver and .500 looks pretty good come the end of the season. B1G on the road will be a grind..

I think there is no reason to worry about a record any longer. With CJ going down the season is effectively over. A team with few scholarship bodies left and only two scorers now is going to lose a lot of games. It stinks because there was some promise, but this is a year of injuries.

Maybe game thread mentioned it and I missed it but why did Kriener sit so much in the last 10 min or so?

Next year looks very promising...assuming Garza comes back. The Inside-outside game depends on an elite level player in Garza and good 3pt shooting. Lots of guard depth coming in and hopefully healthy Jbo/JoeW/Fredrick gives the team 3 proven 3pt shooters.

This year depends on Fredrick...this team without Fredrick is going to be easy to defend by doubling Garza and the rest of the team can't beat you...and they certainly won't defend from that garbage zone Fran relies on.

No idea? And insert Pemsl in the last 2.5 minutes? That was bizarre and he contributed 2 TOs promptly.

Cripes... If they shut down CJF for the season, things are going to be hard to watch.

Do you hope that it drags down Garza's numbers, so he isn't tempted to go pro? Also don't want him to get burnt out playing with a severely limited team

Turning point in the game was when our guys trash-talked into that timeout. I like this group’s spirit but when I watched that I thought, “oh no.”

1) Nebraska might be hungrier for the W than even our guys,

2) When you’re playing short-handed any unnecessary energy expenditure is risky,

3) It’s a bad Nebraska team. Just take the damn lead, focus on execution, don’t give them fuel. Walk into your damn huddle like you were supposed to be ahead all the while.

Sucks that it has to be to that lifeless team, but what do you do when the cards are stacking fast against you? Hit two more threes is all it took to leave with a W.

Maybe this has something to do with our performance along with the injuries:

"Iowa -- Tuesday's game ended a stretch dating back to Nov. 28 in which Iowa played eight of 10 games away from home. Iowa will have traveled more than 8,000 miles in six weeks when it gets back to Iowa City Tuesday night."

It’s pretty much always “next year” with Fran’s teams. I wonder when “next year” will actually arrive?

Yeah,.. I thought the same thing...

Do you not realize how great the Fran run has been? Sure 3 end of year collapses in Big10 play on his best teams and only program not to make it to a Saturday game in BTT over past 9 years, but otherwise he's delivered .500 ball in B1G regular season if you neglect BTT performance..

If he has a crappy season like 2016-17 where he plays 3pt shooting specialist Brady Ellingson as his backup PG because he didn't recruit enough ball handlers, that isn't his fault.

This year, Critical transfers losses and lack of off season roster additions primed this team for guard depth issues...not Fran's fault. Giving up 90 points per game on the B1G road so far this season...not Fran's fault because he's scoring 85ppg and losing close.

Next year if Garza takes off, that stellar seaon where Fran actually competes for B1G title goes up in smoke..poof.

I'd prefer to keep Fran and have him address his own weaknesses...starting with defense. First he has to acknowledge he has some issues...he's never done that.
