12/23 Games Thread

He didn't run threw him. What happened last year in IC was way worse. The player that was "run threw" didn't have a problem with what happened. Wheeler was heading to the bench when Ayo comes running from 30 feet away. Curbelo was telling Ayo to basically stay away.
He knocked the guy down trying to steal the ball while he was dribbling out the damn clock up by 16. And you think Ayo is the dick here? He may very well be a dick, but he wasn't the problem.

It looked like the Illinois player dove on the ball. It was excessive defense down 16(?) with the game over, but Dosunmu overreacted imo

Got a good one here with NW/IU with IU taking their 1st lead. Torn on who I want to win. I think NW as IU has a higher ceiling.

At least the ref called a foul. In the game last year they refused to blow the whistle at the end. Pretty much the same end of game situation last year as well. Illinois was fine with what they did last year in IC but they don't like it when the other team basically does the same to them. Ayo created a situation that didn't need to happen. Curbelo wasn't going to retaliate and Wheeler was walking to the bench. Curbelo was trying to get Ayo to stay away.

No shit Sherlock, I have eyes. Because Curbelo let it go, what Wheeler did was fine? So Ayo a year ago is a dick, but Wheeler does the same thing this year and he's not a dick. Great, got it. LOL!

Even Hummel said there was nothing there for Ayo to go off like that. He said there had to be something else that happened during the game for him to go after him since there was hardly anything there.

This. Lots of jawing from Wheeler and Penn State the entire game. Gotta get used to it when you travel out east — Maryland, Rutgers, Penn State. Jawing and chippyness seems to be more part of the culture out there.

Nothing there other than he knocked his teammate down who was harmlessly trying to dribble out the clock up by 16, but somehow ends up on his ass. That somehow was Wheeler.

Go ahead and commend Curbelo for keeping his cool, because he had every right not too. And go ahead and blame Ayo for not keeping his, but when it involves a teammate and he's got his back I have a hard time blaming him for that whether he has a history or not. If the Big Ten thinks he's got some punishment coming, then he'll get it.

None of that changes the fact that Wheeler CLEARLY started the entire sequence. For what? Would he have been happier if Curbelo drove and then drop stepped another 3 on them to go up 19 with time left on the shot clock? Yeah, I'm guessing not.

Why is you demeanor so much different in this thread than the other one? What have I done to you? I just asked if Ayo was the one who had the issue with Connor last year and Ayo reaction was a little over the top. I never said he was this or that, you were the one that started that. It sounds like you are a closet Illini fan.

Couldn't care less about the Illini. I have no idea about last year and not looking to revisit old news I guess. Seemed to me you were trying to paint a picture about Ayo, instead of putting the blame squarely where it belongs, on Wheeler. That's my version and I'm sticking to it.

If Ayo is a hothead, then so be it, ban him from the league if he deserves it. Connor has had his moments too.
