Iowa started off with a pretty decent weekend beating NCAA tournament qualifiers from last year Texas State, La.-Lafayette and Houston while droping games to Lipscomb and La.-Lafayette.

My dad flew down last night and the softball team was on the same flight. Didn't know what they were in town for. Should've looked it up and went and watched them.

The Hawkeyes are looking pretty good this year. We're off to a 7-3 start. The pitching is looking good as is the defense. The offense is inconsistent but have come up with big hits at the right time.

This weekend should be very telling--off to play in Alabama's tournament.

any reports? I heard Alabama was up 1-0 after 3. If anyone knows the score, please post it for us. if that score is accurate...its Go Hawks. Bama is number 1 and defending national champs. Souls like we are hanging with them!

Iowa lost to Bama 5-0 yesterday and 4-1 today. They did defeat Winthrop 2-1 yesterday and 7-1 today. They face W.Illinois on Sunday.

The 4-1 loss was closer than it looks. A couple questionable calls probably gave them two extra runs. We ran ourselves out of another run. It seems like we are so close but still need to clean a few things up. Massey and Blank are playing very well. Let's hope we can take care of business verses West Ill. tomorrow. 9-5 going into tomorrow's game.

Big wins today versus ranked Stanford and Oregon State

Big improvement from last year, when we also played a tough non-conference schedule but lost most of them (and were penalized at tournament time). We're finding ways to score runs, despite less-than-spectacular (other than Blank and Massey) offensive statistics. Per the B10 stats page, Massey is batting .400 with 3 HR's. Still too many sub-.200 hitters in the lineup. though.

Wow..14-5 I never thought we'd have this good of record with wins over ULL, Stanford, Ore St, and good Houston and Ok State teams. Neb-Omaha is 16-1 also although they have not had the best competition.

Massey, Dowling, Blank are hitting well. Wall and Hoffman and getting some big hits and Gyerman seems to be coming on strong. Nice to get some innings of relief from Whitney.

Great job by the Hawks!! Keep it up. Great weekend beating two ranked teams. This schedule will pay off down the road. Go Hawks.

Megan Blank won B1G player of the week this week. Iowa is 14-5 with four winnable games this weekend. It would be nice to put together a nice win streak before a tough tournament at Louisville.

The B1G is looking much stronger than in the past -

Michigan, as usual, is very good and will only be stronger when they return their ace pitcher.
Nebraska has found a good pitcher to go with their good offense.
Wisconsin is playing very solid all around.
Minnesota can win any game with Moulton in the circle.
Northwestern has great offense and if their inconcsistent pitching can become more steady they will be up top of the conf again.

It's nice to see the B1G strong again. Hopefully we'll get 3-5 NCAA tournament bids.

A few more tough non conference games for the Hawks, but I can't wait to see the B1G play out this year.

Go Hawks!

3 out of 4 wins in Maryland this weekend, including a win over Ohio State

And we're scoring runs - good to see, hope the offense keeps rolling. Bats have held us back for several years.

It's always hard to tell what happened just following game tracker but it appeared we had a couple base running errors. This still seems to be an area that we still are making some unforced errors. Again, hard to tell just following game tracker.

Going into today if someone told me Iowa would split I would have never guessed we beat Lville and lost to Ball State. Ball State is going to win their fair share of games.

Hopefully we can pick up another win over Lville or Kentucy.

Hawks drop a close one to #11 Louisville 6-4. Luna had three hits yesterday and didn't play today. I don't understand that one.

Looper said in the post game interview a couple running errors hurt us. Was anyone there? What happened?
