With another season under his belt at Iowa we can look at the McCaffery trend. Every season but 2014 the McCaffery teams finished stronger than they started and overcame ever shorter spells of bad play with their best play . Even 2014, disastrous finish notwithstanding did see a return to the NCAA which represented progress.

When Iowa was sitting at 6-6 and 15-10 the next three weeks were going to determine the future of the McCaffery regime. Rather than stumble into the NIT they came together and finished strong.

Getting into the second round is exactly the kind of progress that you can sell to recruits that weren't looking at Iowa in the past seven or eight seasons. The search for a big boy to fill the final scholly could be very directly influenced by that Davidson blow out, for example. Better players typically are followed by more wins.

I must admit, there were times when pessimism got the better of me this year. Not anymore....going back to optimism 'bout them Hawks.

Another shot of whiskey and time to spend outside in the spring and summer.... IA BB in the fall is welcoming with Fran leading the charge.
