This may have been covered in the past few weeks, since nationals ended, but it's the off-season so might as well waste our time with stuff like this. Within an hour after watching Cory Clark's inspiring win in the finals (then seeing PSU win 5 straight...that was depressing!), I went back to my apt. in St. Louis and looked at who will be the top contenders for individual titles next year. This is preliminary in that I'm not giving much thought to who might be redshirting, moving up/down in weight, and freshmen (redshirt and true).

125 - Suriano, Lizak, Piccininni, Cruz, Mueller
133 - Tomasello, Gross, Brock, Micic
141 - Heil, Jack, Meredith, Ashnault, Eierman, Kolodzik, Thorn, Pletcher
149 - Retherford, Sorensen, Thomsen, Jordan, Hayes, Pantaleo
157 - Nolf, Kemerer, Smith, Lavalle, Berger
165 - Martinez, Joseph, Massa, Rogers, Lewis, Walsh
174 - Jordan, Hall, Amine, Valencia
184 - Valencia, Nickal, Martin, Abounader
197 - Moore, Haught
285 - Snyder, Coon, Nevills, Hall, Stoll, Kasper

Some redshirt and true freshmen (if they don't redshirt) who could make an impact:
Red, Fix, Reenan, VanAnrooy, Courtney, Arujau, Diakhomihalis, Gomez, Labriola, Gfeller, Romero, Allar, Verkleeren.

Input?

I think Abounader was good a few years ago but will be ragdolled by Nickal and Zahid. Jmo

I only see 3 Iowa guys mentioned. And if Stoll gets 5th I will do cartwheels around the block (1/3 mile). What about Marinelli? Young?

I typed Marinelli, then deleted it, then typed it, then deleted it - haha. Of course I'm hoping they'll be legitimate challengers, but just not sure at this point. Agree with Stoll (you're going to be awfully dizzy after all those cartwheels!)

I think at 141, Yianni D is the only one who can beat Heil. Crazy to say but that's just how I see it. 197 include Darmstadt from Cornell as well.

Lizak up to 133. If Ohio state really wants a team title then they will go NATO 125, Pletcher at 133, and Hayes at 141 (which I think we see him at this weight regardless, Pletcher at 133 or redshirt)

Do you have a source for Lizak moving up? I think 133 is McKee's spot unless he redshirts and McKee really isn't likely to move to 141 with Thorn entrenched there . Now if McKee were to bulk up and go to 149, then Lizak to 133 could happen. But I haven't heard anything. Have you?
