And yet a fine actor.*The worst Kevin as decided by HORT
And yet a fine actor.
To be honest, I didn't pay much attention. I did notice that he was acquitted in the UK, but I doubt anyone believes he was squeaky clean.I hated having to read about his past because I respected him as an actor. Seems like he should have been Weinstein crowd.

The thing that bothers me about his crimes is that I object to applying the term "child" to people who are nearly adults and are almost certainly knowledgeable and at least significantly complicit/consensual.
I had a similar debate with a liberal friend not long ago about Gaetz - before more details came out - because she seemed incapable of distinguishing between a 9-year-old being sexually abused vs a 17-year-old who was at one of "those kinds" of parties and hooked up with Gaetz. She couldn't see past "they're both below the legal age." I believe we need to think things through better than that. It's like when friends having sex after drinking too much and now one of them regrets it - that's is not the same as violent rape.
I understand the attitude but this is exactly the hobgoblin view that I object to. Reality is way more nuanced and we are misserved by knee-jerk, authoritarian inflexibility.Either have the law or don't. It is simple as that. If you don't like the law, change it. But trying to distinguish is disingenuous

A worldly 17-year-old is not the same as a 9-year old. Or do you think they are?
When did you first think you were an adult? Did some switch get flipped when you turned 18?
I just started watching The Jetty. Worth checking out if you have access to Britbox (or money to spare). I think it may deal with issues like this. Jenna Coleman plays a UK cop who got knocked up when she was 16, leading to a happy marriage. But she is now investigating a possible serial predator who seduces people that age, and is beginning to look at her own story in a different light.

Assuming you’re talking about Spacey here, one of his accusers was 14 at the time of the alleged incident. That’s still a fair distance away from adulthood. To be honest, I didn't pay much attention. I did notice that he was acquitted in the UK, but I doubt anyone believes he was squeaky clean.
