Some of these games resemble an NBA All Star game with the level of defense being played.
Did everyone see that chart of the starting lineups of the Sweet 16 teams, showing where the players started their college careers? Purdue was the only team with all 5 being original recruits; Duke & MIchSt had 4 of their 5, BYU & Houston had 3 of 5, Maryland & Tenn had 2 apiece. The rest had either 1 or none who'd signed with their current team out of HS.
I guess on the upside, if your coach utilizes the portal well & you have the NIL money, you can go from bad to good in a hurry. On the downside, if you're not a top program but happen to get lucky with an unheralded HS player developing into a star, you're not going to keep him (her). On that note, I was sad to see that FSU's Ta'Niya Latson, who led the nation in scoring last year, is entering the portal.

Yeah. I saw that about Latson. I wonder what the back story is.
The one I saw was only the starting lineups. I was not marked as to which team, but was shown by region & you could generally figure out which team was which once you identified a team in each region, thru process of elimination.
I think it indicated 29 out of 80 starters as being at their original school.

That's correct. Who has won since 2000 MSU? Several runner ups only.
I was stunned when I heard it. But Big Ten remains best conference in the country. JMO

And a total defensive fail by Purdue. There was nobody close to the inbounds guy.

It’s so fun! Not. But, as awful as the overall tournament has been IMHO with some few exceptions, clearly this is why I am not a TV executive. If the sweet 16 and final 4 have same high ratings, well, this is what the masses want I guess….yea NIL and portal and brand new 5-10 million dollar teams for the bigger conferences every year! Wohoo!
